i still think allsopp conceding that long goal against watford is one of the worst keeping errors ive seen
Allsop was a mistake waiting to happen today. Took Greaves out of which we got a foul, rooted to his line when crosses are being whipped in. Pandur is here for a reason
definitely a game of two halves - started like Brazil - we desperately needed a second goal - thought Giles and Anass played really well down the left - Giles reminded me a bit of Robbo charging down the wing - Jaden returning was a real boost and what a reaction to score the goal - thought we had an excellent first half - what happened in the second - I wonder if Rosie told them to play it around at the back then launch it over the top to try and catch them out - Millwall played a very tight band across the pitch and packed out a fairly tight area across the pitch - the second half saw a return to ****ing about at the back and this allowed Millwall to push further forward and they grew stronger as the game went on - passing back to Allsopp when we have the ball on the half way line is frustrating even though Rosie thinks its a good tactic - our 'hoofs' over the top were often too long and invariably gave the ball away - we started giving Millwall chances and a better lob and a better finish at the death following poor defending and we could easily have been left with a single point - we were by far the better team but we need to play to our strengths in the opposition half - thought Tufan was excellent, never stopped running and making himself a nuisance - a few timely stops by Allsopp ensured we won the three points - thought Giles was the pick of the new signings - hopefully Rosie can get everyone to gel asap as we seem to have a team more than capable of winning a place in the top six
Slightly off topic Anyone know what happened to the person who'd? collapsed near south / west stand outside after the game?
He didn't take Greaves out. Greaves got pushed in the back by their forward, hence the free kick to us. Was funny listening to the Millwall commentary. At first they said something like no way that's a free kick against us (them), then it was replayed clearly showing the push in Greaves' back and the commentary went silent. Thought Allsop had a good game, other than on occasions frustratingly taking so long to play it short to Greaves or Jones. His positioning should have been better for that attempted lob, but so should the defending leading up to the chance. I do agree though that we need better, fingers crossed Panda is once he's settled in to his new habitat, but Allsop will be a decent back up.
Indeed. I bought him a pint, sadly it was Tetley muck. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I've been wondering this all night, though it was closer to South East. Poor guy did not look in a good way at all.
Was an interesting game today. I honestly thought we'd draw 1-1 and get a reality check after a whirlwind end to the window. I was nearly right. Fortunately we got the result and we still got the grounding reality check we needed... It's early days with the new personnel but we're still not creating many cut and dry chances. This simply has to improve. The more the personnel improve through good signings, the more the finger points to the playing style when we don't create much. The slower the build up, the more precise and perfect the attacking has to be. If the firepower we now have doesn't show they can score multiple times a game, or even create multiple chances then there's likely a deeper lying problem with how we're playing. I guess we'll see how this plays out. That being said, you'd imagine with Delap leading the line today, then it ends up a rout. I thought Slater showed again that he's not been at his best since he got back into the side. For all the energy he just didn't seem to be as well oiled as the rest today and a few too many of our passages came undone with his involvement. How anyone can say he played well and then go on to knock Ohio though, baffles me. Ohio came on once the game was already scrappy. His first couple of touches he was surrounded by defenders. From then on he showed he can hold up the ball very nicely, he has strength and what seems to be some serious pace as well. If he's not afraid of pulling the trigger when needed he could be a shrewd bit of business. Zaroury went off the boil after the first 20 minutes or so but the whole side did to a degree. He looked immense beforehand. Giles was excellent, as was the whole back line, Tufan and Philogene too. Alsopp... I think the past couple of games he's had almost nothing to do, but at this point it unfortunately feels like we're destined for another soft goal at his expense if the opposition can get a decent shot off. Will we see Pandur given a chance next game, or will we wait until we've dropped more points before giving gim a go?
Misjudged three bouncing balls that went over his head, seemed posotionally unaware at a corner and didn't know where to stand, and his first touch let him down on more than one occasion. Playing for a free and losing the ball softly when we were on the edge of their box wasn't great either. He'll improve though.
Nope, he told me he's from south London and not, definitely not, a cockney. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Thought Allsopp was absolutely faultless today. Offered a lot extra in his sweeper role and dominated his penalty box. Some of his long ball distribution was good. He was nearly lobbed, but due to a mistake at the back when he anticipated otherwise.
