Fleming was brought in with one eye on Appleton going.
    He will be appointed.

Well that shoild calm things down - a guy most of us have never really heard of.
Curbs last night was saying we need a good appointment, and need to look not just at who's available, but also at managers who are currently working.
I doubt I was the omly one who thought Appleton was appointed because he fitted the budget. If that was the case, it's cost us big time, with a wasted season, and probably the end of the transfer window for us. We'll need the incoming manager to hit the ground running to see out the season. Like Dowie, appointed after relegating Palace, it was hard to see what part of the Appleton CV got him the job. But the club need to learn to pick better, and expect to pay fora good manager. Otherwise, sacking Appleton will be just another shuffle, to be repeated in six months time.

If we get a good head coach under this administration it will be blind luck. And extremely unlikely.
Give the job to Karen Hills if she wants to have a go.
A bit of positive publicity for the Club, just for a change.

Wasn't he assistant to Nigel Pearson? He's available but would cost us.

Pearson has health issues so that appears to knock back him joining Fleming.
I'll not be surprised with Fleming and Pearce taking charge.

Somebody at work told me it might be Nathan Jones,
I think he got that off the radio.

Bananarama sang a song about him a while ago :emoticon-0159-music
(Jones that is, not my mate at work)

It really doesn’t matter who our next manager is. The manager is not the problem. All the talk elsewhere is utterly pointless. As usual they just don’t get it.

The strategy is the problem, plus the ludicrously complicated ownership and management structure.

I’ll say it for the thousandth time - YOU CANNOT BUILD A TOP L1 TEAM WHILE CUTTING THE OVERAL BUDGET BY SEVERAL MILLION QUID AT THE SAME TIME.

    IT JUST WON’T WORK.

The sooner the big investors wake up and get this fact the quicker our misery will end.

    Then they have two choices

    1) Plough money into the club, do an Ipswich and we’ll be near the top of the Championship in 2/3/4 years time.

    2) Walk away and admit they got it wrong - at which time the club would probably fold and Roland will have his wicked way and his revenge.

The choice of manager does matter. Take last night for instance, when we played 3 at the back. Our best CB recently has been Thomas, and our worst has been Jones, so he drops Thomas, and picks Jones, although tbf he rectified it at h/t. Ladapo was clearly knackered after an hour, anyone could see that except Apples, yet Kanu, who has been improving with game time recently, was left on the bench. No replacement full back on the bench so Campbell, who has been poor recently, comes on for Watson, leaving a big hole at the back for Northampton to score. Don't get me started on Louis Watson. Dobbo is not a forward, so why play him there? Every game there are questions like this. Obviously the club has problems elsewhere, particularly Andy Scott and recruitment, but the manager is very important, that's why we have a Jimmy Seed stand and an Alan Curbishley stand.

Bring Warnock in for the remainder of the season.
He won't stand any nonsense and he can tell the pricks it's my way or nothing.
He does not need the money he can afford to walk once there is upset.

OK, all fair points and I agree with every part of your assessment of the team. Most of that is plain to most supporters and some of Appleton’s choices were quite frankly bizarre.

BUT (and I should have qualified my post) the manager doesn’t matter in terms of whether anyone could get us promoted with this squad under this budget. They simply couldn’t. It is nowhere near good enough.

So you are right, a better manager could get us more wins and convert some losses into draws but NOT get us promoted and to me whether we finish 8th, 10th or 20th is irrelevant. We will still be playing league 1 football for the foreseeable future.

For our survival, the best thing could be we get the runaround at Bleakpool.
We need a known quantity with the mess we're in atm.

The new head coach must be capable of inspirational man management and sound tactical changes.
We have to stop leaking goals like it's going out of fashion.
3 clean sheets in 28 league games is staggeringly bad. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the worst in all four leagues.
Probably the worst in CAFC history.

If there is no change Charlton are on course for relegation.

Fleming being brought in will suggest if they do not appoint him, the new manager will have to agree to have Fleming as his assistant rather than his own man.
    F****** nonsense.

I’m seriously wondering if relegation might be the best thing.

It would surely force the yanks to act and get rid of Mary, Mungo and Midge. While those three remain we are going nowhere. Their strategy is flawed.

They are full of BS. I don't even know if they have a strategy. They maybe think that they have, they talk so much crap that I don't know if they believe it themselves. They are floundering.

I think their strategy is simple.

Keep their well paid jobs for as long as possible until they get sacked and then find another set of marks.

I don’t believe they give a toss for the well-being of the club.
