Yeah, it was. I do like the Google Doodles.

They are very creative at Google. Apparently they had a sign in america which had a complex maths equation on it and said looking for a well paid job, call this number. You could only find the number if you solved the equation correctly. Then once you solved that one you had 2 more to solve which were more complex. Then finally you were invited to send in a CV to the company for interview.

If i can find the case study i will post it to read.

It was just a sign at the side of the road in the US.

They also have free food in the cafeteria for employees, they have a daycare center at head office just in case you are stuck with the kids, they spilt time up 70-20-10; 70% of time is dedicated to your core tasks, 20% can be dedicated to another project within the company not your own and 10% can be "blue sky thinking" where you can come up with what you like and create what you like. You get paid for each of them. At Google they encourage peer to peer bonuses, where any employee can recommend another employee for a bonus if they feel they deserve it and if others agree then the bonus will be paid. They also have a system of ‘Googler to Googler’ training where by a new or inexperienced employee shadows a more experienced employee and is trained by them.

They do, i cant remember the exact figure, but i think its well into the 1000's for each job. They then go on and have a 7 stage interview process where they are interviewed 5 times and appraised by 2 different people who currently work at the company. They only hire the best!

That reminded me of when I worked in a pub in Watford. One Valentines Day, I had a letter hand-delivered to the pub which just had half a dozen or so maths questions on. In the end, the answers turned out to be a telephone number. So of course I text it to see who it was... it was a regular who wanted a date. A pretty ingenious way of asking someone else out I think. Plus was complimented when she said she tried it on an accountant at work and he couldn't figure it out - she was impressed that a 'barman' could get it!
