The prefect opportunity and timing to boost the clubs imagine and increase the fanbase outside of Newcastle. That and the fact he wins trophies and its been 68 years ffs. The Titanic doesn't even sound old here.
I estimate around 75 to 80 years until its achieved unless they get a manager that wins the ****ing things everywhere of course.
He won't at Newcastle either, too many teams better than them at the moment. Newcastle's only way forward is creative accounting and spend a **** load on players. Until they do that they're going nowhere regardless of the owners.
I love it when Munse comes in with his sayings "Titanic doesn't sound old here" "Howe is as dull as a rusk" Not wrong tho, but our lot are happy with toast and butter. Wouldn't dare put jam on it, too extreme.
Honestly, I'd also go for Mancini. Talk about top draw entertainment. He put City in the headlines and won pots
doesn't help when Mandy keeps rifling through the till and blaming Horizon when PIF ask where all the dosh has gone
There will links now until he gets a job elsewhere even if he's never coming, just the way the media works.
Echoes of when SBR came in his latter years. Not sure how I’d feel about it. Hes a serial winner, pure box office and will have the biggest point to prove. But his football is dull, his heyday is some time ago and he’s ****ing expensive.
And he doesn't have a bottomless purse like he had elsewhere,he'd have to manage as opposed to throw money at it,no thanks.
He will be the one to demand better signings though. Howes happy with Ritchie and Almiron, it's clear. He isn't an iron willed manager, he isn't going to sit down and say "you aren't good enough." Ten Hag isn't my favourite, but he had the balls to kick Ronaldo and Sancho out. You need a level of ruthlessness and we just don't have it. Everything is so happy and lovely. Calling everyone love, congrats house parties. If we want to win things we have to get serious. I want to win things.
I agree. My opinion - and I accept I will never know for sure - is that Howe was happ with Burn/Targett at LB, with Almiron/Murphy at RW, genuinely believes Longstaff, Schar and Lascelles are PL footballers and thought Barnes was the player we needed. I think he has an attitude-first mentality and believes that can only come from ploddy British players. I don't trust him/Ashworth with a bigger kitty and I've said multiple times I have zero faith that Howe wlll win a trophy.
I agree mostly with this. I think that EH signed Barnes to play him at left wing with Almiron right wing and Isak through the middle with Gordon being a sub to replace either winger. Every time I had seen Barnes play he was average at best but then I saw his stats and I was like wow.
Yep, looks about right. He averaged something like 14 goal contributions (goals/assists) over 3 straight PL seasons. Yet everytime I've seen him I've been nonplussed at best. He's another 'runner', but looks like he has some kind of end product. My concern is the longer we keep and trust Howe with money, the more plodders we're going to pick up and the harder it'll be to get on the right side of FFP. I mean, £30m is being spunked on a third choice left back this Summer, ffs.
Agree about Barnes like. Everytime I watched Leicester he looked absolutely average at best, **** at worst. Yet, he seems to score. All this of course is now redundant. The one who showed continuous promise was Anthony Gordon and I think he's showing us why he needs to play. He looked poor recently I suspect due to tiredness, less game time and suddenly he's scoring again. So the Barnes transfer now looks even more perplexing.
He cost £40m. When is he EVER going to be "worth" more. As backup to Gordon. It was really stupid/odd.
