An old, decent centre-half with pace would probably expect to start, too.
You have to be able to get around the pitch and play the ball in this system.
 
Lots of rumours that Reguilon is going on loan to Brentford.
Rico Henry's out for the season with a knee injury and Ghoddos is at the Asian Cup.

What I don’t want is more situations where two FBs are playing at CB and promising young players in those spots still aren’t getting a look-in. They don’t benefit and neither do we long term if we have high hopes for them.

That's precisely my point. Like it or not, give Ange a choice of end of career Gallas, Fazio, Ramos or Royal, and he'll pick the latter every single week.

How you putting Fazio in with Gallas and Ramos? <laugh>.

That’s like chucking Rasiak into any debate for Spurs’ best ever striker.

But not a chance a 32/33 year old Gallas or Ramos gets benched for Emerson. Both still had legs back then and Ramos especially has been one of the most technical CBs of this generation. That’s gotta be one of your wildest ever calls to say Ange would have benched them for Emerson.

Says more clubs are interested too.

There was also a rumour floating about that we were looking at trying to loan in Kalvin Phillips… for a £6m loan fee. Get to ****. £6m for half a season is ridiculous, he’d probably need about 3 weeks to get fit as well considering he’s spent 98% of the season so far as a fan with front row tickets to City games.

Phillips will want to go somewhere he'll actually play, especially with the Euros coming up. Here he'd be behind Bentancur and Sarr but probably ahead of Skipp and Hojbjerg.

Might not be the craziest idea in the world as it happens. If we can get an option to buy inserted and Ange can get him back to his Leeds form, I'd say it's well worth a flutter at £6m. HG too so an instant upgrade on Skipp without losing that benefit.
