Diane who? Yes, the current conflict in Gaza is the result of the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, and Israel is perfectly entitled to seek to eliminate the terrorists responsible, but its response is rightly considered by the vast majority of nations (UK and US excepted) to be excessive and unacceptable. I would hesitate to call it genocide, but at the very least the actions of Israel in Gaza are war crimes in terms of collective punishment as set out in the Geneva Conventions. As I said, if we and the US had been doing more to put an end to these excesses, the escalation by the Houthis may well have not taken place.
War crimes will be hard to prove imo, due to the fact that Hamas 1. ran its active terrorist organisation in tunnels under the civilian population and 2. sited its missile sites in civilian areas like hospitals and schools. Israel did not target civilian areas per se.
