Brighton playing a blinder again. No one else was across this one.

we all thought Ashworth was the gem finder but perhaps we should go tempt the Brighton scouting team to come north.

Only 10 Million too, he's fantastic on Football Manager for what it's worth.

Yeah, it was always suggested that Ashworth had all the contacts in South America etc. but now I'm not so sure.

Brighton have an excellent scouting system and it's now hard to tell how how much of that was directly influenced by Ashworth. I know these things might take time, but we are not yet seeing any direct impact of finding young gems the way Brighton do.

I’d just go hire the Brighton team.
One bargain signing could pay their wages for years in terms of money saved.

From what I've heard since its the owner and the scouting system rather than Dan Ashworth.

After some more reading it appears Tony Bloom has access to statistical data thats even hidden from people at Brighton due to his other businesses.

Yep it’s exactly this. I think Ashworth is there more for structure than just scouting, creating a club blueprint from youth to first team.

I mean, Kalvin Phillips. What ****ing scouting is involved in that?!

Ashworth was never the gem finder. He never really had much involvement in any of the scouting.

All the scouting is done by a company owned by Tony Bloom and is data driven

Tony Bloom owns a data analytics company and that does a lot of the work for brighton....at least thats what a brighton fan told me.

So if this is the case why haven't other companies either looked to copy their business model or simply poached the top execs from his data company?

If this is true it won’t be long before he’s found out surely and peddled! I don’t think our owners or Eddie are daft and will spot this a mile off given time. Maybe there is a long game at play here that we’re not aware of otherwise surely we would have rinsed Man Utd to get them to take him off our hands if they wanted him so badly. Next year or two will be very telling i think in terms of our direction. It’s already been made clear that we plan and look two windows ahead or summit like that so the next two transfer windows should be interesting!

I think I've seen Ashworth get asked about this AI scouting set up that Brighton have before and he was quite straightforward about our current set up and that we don't have the same capabilities yet etc. I don't think he's professing to be the 'gem finder' but he is an infrastructure guy, clearly good at his job and has good contacts because others like working with him.

On the scouting piece though. We do need to find a way to either bring more talent through the academy or turn some quick profits as thats where we can start pushing back these FFP barriers

Ashworth is here to set up a top class structure and long term plan. The scouting department is about 10% of the overall project he’s putting in place.

His remit is to ensure all departments from academy through to first team sing off the same hymn sheet.

scouting, recruitment, medical, analysis, academy, development squad, first team squad, training facilities, staff recruitment, loan department etc etc

It's called Starlizard and something PIF should infidelity look at replicating........or buying.

It would be chump change for them to either buy, or buy into that company and then tap into the resource. Would sit outside of FFP too.

Well it will be the software so they can’t really use it if bloom doesn’t let them. And poaching top execs doesn’t mean much if they can’t bring that software with them?

Why would Brighton chairman let PIF buy into his company to help Newcastle compete against Brighton?
