With all respect mate, this is rubbish.
How can someone who says this ever be trusted to represent the club? He should be severely reprimanded as a minimum but should likely have his contract rescinded.
He wasn't speaking against the club as such, though, was he? Basically, what he was saying is it was unfair to boo a player who, more than any other, kept us from relegation eighteen months ago.
Laidler was an idiot to say what he said, but he didn't hope Sunderland would lose. In fact, he said nothing at all against the club. He was speaking up against what he considered unfair treatment of another player.
