    line ups then.

    kelleher
    Bradley quansah vvd gomez
    macallister trent Jones
    diaz jota nunez

Elliott was anonymous today so back to sub
gravenberch did OK but let's see
konate needs a rest surely after that.

hard to say what we might do really but kelleher plays league Cup

With the little mini break I would go as strong as can try and put 3-4 goals in and get the tie all but over
    Rest for second leg

I wasn't sure if Elliott was taken off today to protect him for this game tbh.

I dunno but he was having no impact at all.

macca sure. now that was a risky sub by klopp.

Once trent was moved we did improve. Bradley did well for a young lad who would be under pressure.

we were 451 for last 10 there. the back up on both sides was really strong

We’ve no game after this for a week and a half. No need to rest players. Get a strong team out and try win the tie in the first leg and can rest some players in the return fixture when it’s in between 2 league games.

The second leg if a few days before we play chelsea (they also have their second leg then) so if we can rest more players than them to keep fresh then be useful

I reckon that putting trent to cm might be our best team right now.

Think trent defender better when went to midfield weirdly. Was 2 examples and seen it a few times in other games where he’ll actually sprint out wide to the player and get close.

When he shows some aggression to his defender he’s perfectly fine. When he gets close and forces someone to do something to beat him. His problem is when he stands up and looks a bit too relaxed and gives the players the chance to run at him and then he’s so easy to run past as gets square on.

Was 2 examples today where sprinted out to martinelli and saka when playing CM to get close to them and he forced them to go backwards as couldn’t get heads up and run.

oh and yeah we need a good lead going to the cottage. their entire game suits thr smaller pitch and imo the only reason they are not down there at the bottom with forest and looking down is home form.

    but any win will do.

on both occasions he's the second man so most players will go back out. its a massive massive help to any full back to get that back up.

Fulham will be scrapping for a final. Any win will do; we need them to open up at home.

Been really impressed with Fulham of late tbh when I've watched them against us and Arsenal. Especially Jimenez who I thought was as good as finished after his last injury. I'm expecting two tricky games.

As i said. played 10 away in the prem. there sonly 2 worse sides in the prem away form home. Newcastle and sheff utd.

won 1 (everton on opening day when everton were awful)
    drew 3 (brighton, arsenal, palace
lost 6 (Bournemouth, Newcastle, villa, utd, city, us)

scored 9 and conceded 26. (5 to city, 4 to us, 3 to bournmouth, 3 to villa and 3 to newkie)

by contrasts they've won 6 at home and lost 4 and scored 19 and conceded 12. We have to remember they smashed west ham and forest for 5 at home so thats 10 goals in 2 games.

They are hardish to score off but don't score many and have gone to pens twice in this comp.

They have gotten some credible draws on the road but their record does suggest to me that they don't score enough in general and especially they struggle on the road.

I expect the away tie to be far tougher so I do expect them to sit and try to counter on us on Wednesday. their record of goals against isn't pleasant reading for them when up against the better opponents.

ANY prem side are capable on their day in their own ways. Fulham will counter well on us. i think they'd be delighted to draw this anfield tie.

I think Trent sees himself as a midfielder now too
Which will be important in how he performs
Not saying whether it’s right or wrong but if the lad enjoys a position way more and delivers from that position we should probably facilitate it ?

he seems more willing to run a bit in midfield.

Lets face it do we want endo who can just do a job and is good at a couple of things or do we want trent who does a lot of other skills but not really as good as endo on the intercepting and playing on the turn?

Its trent all day long yeah?

Our team for the remainder of the season might read Gomez Konate VVD Robertson at the back and Szobo, trent and Macallister in midfield

I think Jones will get regular starts still and the midfield will rotate a bit.

Could also see Endo in MF and Trent at RB for bigger games where Klopp wants more shield in midfield.

so if we are playing city at home in the league with everyone fit (hopefully they all will be then) do you go trent RB with endo or macallister at 6 or do you stick trent at 6 and go with gomez?
