Promising young Chelsea striker/attacking midfielder going out on loan to...Huddersfield. Just the sort of player we could do with. You'd have thought we'd have been in for him seeing as we're up the road?

Chelsea youngster Alex Matos is headed for Huddersfield on loan. The young forward/midfielder has played only minutes for Mauricio Pochettino’s first team but has received positive advanced notices from youth level.

Chelsea haven’t loaned players to us for many years. They’d love to see us go down, so loaning to Huddersfield is good business for them.

I doubt the hierarchy at Chelsea give a **** about us either way but for a **** club in the middle of nowhere Hudds seem to get a lot of loans from the big clubs.

Slight change of subject but well done Andros Townsend

Obviously I'm delighted - three months ago I thought my career was over," said Townsend.

Luton said the new contract will keep him at the club for the "foreseeable future".

Townsend had not played a competitive match since March 2022 while still at Goodison Park.

He added: "From going begging around the world just for a trial to being offered a longer contract is a dream come true.

"It's a special, special football club. I think we can really achieve something special this season. It's only halfway done. We've got six months - 19 games - to pull off the unthinkable."

Manager Rob Edwards said Townsend had shown "real humility and professionalism" during his time with the squad.

"He's shown the whole group what it means to be elite and a top-end pro," Edwards added.

I won’t forget that goal he scored for us against Sunderland for a very long time. Good man.

1st of Feb is a long way away yet. No early deals viewed on the horizon so far (other than a few weak clickbait mentioned here).
