I really hope Spanish's wumness is not rubbing off on you. Was it the ref's fault you didn't have any shots on target? Was it the ref's fault you didn't win any corners? Was it the ref's fault that you only managed two pot shot (wide) of goal?
Youre are probably correct and apart from the financial benefits with parachute payments etc it wouldnt give me any pleasure to see us thrashed every week, but we would strengthen and our team would be entirely different to the one we have now which is the same as last season virtually but i take your point, after all if Leeds and Leicester cant make the grade in the Prem even with their financial clout it just shows how difficult it must be to stay there, but Brentford, Brighton, Fulham, and Bournemouth are surviving with smaller gates than Leeds or Leicester so it can be done.
Ok guys, as the most senior fan on here, may I politely suggest Leeds fans go back home and wish you all a Happy Xmas and enjoyable 2nd half of the season!
I'm gonna need some I.D fella. Something that proves your the authority around here. Happy Christmas btw.
It might be hard to wrap your brain around this, but the ref bottled loads of decisions including a pivotal one that handed Leeds an early lead and set the tone for the rest of the game. It’s not as if Leeds are capable of that scoreline week in, week out.
Southcoastold "gagger" gaffer Merry Christmas everyone .. Hope you all.have a wonderful, healthy and joyous Christmas with loved ones
Run along northern scum, back to your hell hole in Yorkshire!!! Have a great Christmas, I'm sure you will be able to have a great time on your benefits!!
Happy Xmas everyone, and may all our good luck continue into a bright, Peaceful & lots of pts on the board New Year! Plus a few sparkling cracking new players!
How about just writing a relegation wage reduction clause into players contacts? Parachute payments exist because Portsmouth couldn't run their house properly and ended up in the ****. Teams shouldn't be getting financially rewarded for failure but the PL want you to spend, spend, spend to try and bring in the best so they allow you to do so by having a back up plan for when you fail. If you have a reduction in wages clause in your players contracts, the club is protected should those players screw up. It's about time clubs took responsibility for their finances instead of overspending and relying on handouts to bail them out when they **** up.
I agree. I dunno what other clubs have done but we had 50% reduction in wages tied in to players contracts if we were relegated. The caveat of that wage reduction was that they had loan release clauses that were also activated by relegation. Basically if any club could pay their wages in full then we had to let them go out on loan. That's why 90% of our first team from last season are now out on loan. It seems that you're damned if you do and damned if you don't when clubs go up. If you don't gamble with the money then you go back down, if you do spend then you risk the future of the club. The best a club can hope for really is to yo yo for a few seasons and try and build slowly. Forest spent £250 million after their promotion and escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth. Villa did the same after breaking FFP in the first place to get out of the Championship. If either of those clubs went straight back down then there would be your next couple of Portsmouth scenarios. I don't think there's a right answer tbh. I just think teams, like ourselves, shouldn't have to gamble the clubs future to become successful at the highest level.
The answer is more equal distribution of finances across the football pyramid. Like many things when there are large discrepancies between the haves and have nots people take more risks which includes more shady behaviour. Parachute payments are similar to things like help to buy which inflates the housing market, it doesnt solve the bigger issues, it's like a sticking plaster which actually contributes to the worsening bigger picture and widens the gap between the haves and have nots. Coincidentally I always thought it was our relegation and subsequent administration which brought about parachute payments.
It doesn’t really matter what the rules are if there is not fair enforcement of those rules, and that’s a complete joke.
