How’s that a foul by Salah? Nketieh knew he wasn’t as quick or strong and Salah just eased him off the ball. How can ref not see that from 10 yards away
Wont say klopps got it wrong with his subs as never know why players need to come off. But jones was brilliant today and lost some control. And Salah up top isn’t working so lost any ability of him picking up the running at zinchenko
That was a frustrating watch tbh. We didn't take full advantage of our period of control. On the other hand I thought Konate, Jones and Gomez all played really well
Should have had a penalty, Trent should have scored. Other than that, probably a fair outcome. Konate was clearly motm imo
Am ok result - we should have won it and if Arsenal are the main challengers to City, on that showing, we’re not a million miles away after a complete midfield rebuild. Anyone who says that wasn’t a penalty needs a head wobble. VAR is ****ed up.
Said same. Albeit was partly at fault for their goal which counts against him. But he dominated at the back and got in about 3 blocks in a period of 60 seconds. Was immense
Robbed again over the penalty. Otherwise pretty even, though if we were a bit more clinical in front of goal. There was a period where we could smell blood, but just weren't decisive enough. They didn't really have much of a sniff of goal for most of the game.
1-1. I didn't think it was that bad a game. First half better than second. Felt we were perhaps "wanting it more" but it was fairly even and neither team were bad. Shame not to win being at home but not the world's worst result. Pissed about Tsimi. Controversial opinion, I know, but I've long felt he's our best LB and glad he's getting a better run in the team now. (Although not happy the reason he was, obviously).
Disappointing that didn’t take out chance from Trent. Would have been lovely break. Have to say last 2 lesgue games klopps subs just not working. Difficult time of year and having played midweek had to make changes plus the injury to diaz. But Salah was ineffective. Gravenberch did nothing. Nunez was alright beat defender couple times but didn’t really threaten. Same happened v United. He went 442 and we lost control of the game for about 15 mins and let United off the hook. Have to say that for all the talk of our brilliant strike force. They look really poor sometimes. Did against United. Salah other than his goal was shocking. Dribbling was poor. Diaz did nothing coming inside and losing it. Gakpo had tough game up top against 2 very good CB’s. Szobos passing been really off last few weeks as well. Couple times just passed to no one and kept wanting to take a touch and shoot outside box like v West Ham but kept being closed down. Won’t get that much time and space all the time. positive Konate brilliant again. Guy needs to stay injury free and will develop into a world class CB. Jones was great pressing and winning ball back and drove forward couple times when had space. Endo prob his best game. Thought was great with jones in winning the ball back. Gomez didn’t dispppoint. Thought was gonna curl one in as well! Dealt with Saka well
I feel he's more balanced than Robertson and he clearly has a fantastic work ethic. As I said, I know it's controversial, especially on this forum people love AR.
One last thing. Saka has gone from a really likeable guy who plays with a smile on his face. To a moany whining annoying player. Goes over under any sort of body contact and sits on floor with arms out. Never gets questioned cos he’s English obviously.
missed mist of first half so haven't seen the handball incident but based on 2nd half thought we should have won but we ****ed up the positions / chances we had and then the subs we made killed our momentum. Konate motm for me with the disclaimer i just saw bits of first half
Sarah's goal was nice. Reminded me of old Salah a little. I agree with Klopp that Nunez is more than his goals... I'd absolutely sell him if a large offer came in and we had someone to replace him with, but I feel he replaces the Mané hole in the squad by putting in good effort and creating space for the other forwards. Would be nice if he had a tally of goals like Mané too... But we do need someone in the squad like that.
The hand ball incident is one of those 50/50 things where some refs give it and some won't. I don't think it was completely clear cut. Another day, another ref it might have been given though. Nothing to sack this ref over.
So we should have had a penalty, but TAA should have scored when he hit the bar. Our forwards need to learn to hold the ball up and it was very frustrating to see us win the ball then give it straight back to Arsenal with a poor pass. Overall 1-1 probably reflected the way the game went. So next is Burnley.
