It’s funny cos varane seemed a great signing. Player who had pace and composure at the back, one of best Cb’s in world for period of time. Same with casemiro. Solid DM give them stability and a base to build from and allow Bruno to do more work in final 3rd. But Madrid don’t sell top class players if they’re still at the top of their game. They are the biggest fish so don’t get preyed on so if they are moving someone on it’s either because a, they’re too young and not getting in team (odegaard), b, just not good enough, or c, as is the case with these 2, they’re past their prime and on their way down with injuries etc. United got a year out of casemiro and he was very good this year but he’s dropped off a cliff a bit like Fabinho. Maybe in the right set up could still do a good job but in an out of sorts team he’s not someone that’s stood up to be counted which is a worry for a guy you paid 70m for and meant to be the bedrock of your midfield.
