First thoughts are

a) we deserved nothing today.

b) the referee was awful and lost control. he missed a free and gave a pen then had it taken off then missed a pen and had to be called back hours later. he then sends a player off for a nothing challenge.

c) ayew was riding his luck all day as were the whole palace line up. they flopped about, move the ball 5 yards forward constantly, shouted for cards, time wasted etc etc. he sotto on that ball first but he had about 5 dives and a kick of the ball away plus 3 calls for a yellow bull that stage.

d) var was awful, stop the game. how the **** can we be told the game restarted v spurs so nothing can be done but the game can go on for 3 mins (not 2) and yet they can pull it back. that is grossly unfair and inconsistent.

e) Palace deserved to win.

the officials ruined that game, but we got a lucky 3 points, very very lucky. when you get a gift be grateful but palace were just about deserving of a point given their ****housing.

There are too many variables to go into but as a general rule of thumb, a team 'deserves' to win if they outplay the opposition. Palace didn't outplay us so I'm not sure how you come up with them deserving to win. They couldn't score from open play (unlike us) and the only goal they did get was a gifted penalty. You can say we were lucky to win, which is a different argument.

we were abject.

they had one saved and off the post, had all the threat first half, had a pen written off.

second half they broke on us via their ****housing gameplay and got and scored their pen.

at 75mins they had the game won and we were never scoring.

at 76mins they were level and under the cosh.

that's how mig an impact that awful ref showing had on the game.

That's a good summary but there's nothing there that tells me they deserved to win. Score goals, you win. We scored goals, both of which were very good and well worked, plus one very good one chalked off for an offside decision we didn't get to see but in real time looked to be on. They also got a very late chance with a corner that should never have been given because their player was offside.

the ref created the circumstances for us to score not us. we were nowhere until that sending off.

I beg to differ. Ayew got himself sent off. His second yellow was for the exact same move Gomez got yellow carded for moments later. Did the ref choose our substitutes as well?

the ref booked a player for jumping over thr ball and then booked a player for very little contact.

the fact he started waving cards around in a vain attempt to look in control is aside the point.

lfc played dreadfully.

the ref was absolutely terrible. he indulged all the worst in palace, he let them time waste all game and flop over

he gave a pen despite looking at a clear foul prior to it and then failed to give a pen that was fairly clear.

Forget it JB - mito will never say anything positive about us.

We were ****, but a lot of games in a short time and 2 away from home in 3 days. Palace weren't exactly great either

This has probably been mentioned, but I haven't read it so - what would happen if a goal had been scored (by either team) during the time it took them to come to the penalty decision?
Or someone was sent off for a red card offence?
Would these things be wiped off?
We were told they couldn't stop the Spurs game a few seconds on when the cock-up became clear, yet yesterday they could take the game back by a couple of minutes. What if it had taken VAR its customary 4 or 5 minutes for tricky decisions - is there no time-bar on these things?
It's all such a bloody mess.
