Well I suppose one good thing is that nobody with a net worth of less than 1 billion is likely to takeover from Short.
What makes you think that smart-ar$e?
Do you actually know everything?
F**k me!

The owner of QPR only has a 300 million fortune (only i say, i wish) so it is possible, but anyway i really dont think Short is getting bored at all, its a hell of a challenge, and I really hope he is up to it, not just the team but increasin the turnover, which will increase our wage cap, which will = better players, which will = moving up the league (we hope) which will = we can keep them.
Any of the below (out of work managers) would do for me
Rafa Benitez
Hiddink
Hughes
MoN
Van Basten

Anyone else worried that someone will sack their manager before we do (doubt we will anyway) and they take O'Neil? What if we do wait to long and sack him when there is no one good enough available? This is why imo we need to get rid of him quickly, I don't wanna end up with someone like Curbishley.
Tough one mate, i'm not in the position be to a wealthy billionaire and have to make these decisions.
Hopefully a foreign name, with a bit of guile and adventure...Not MoN or Hughes....although i'd prefer Hughes over MoN...personal opinions i guess.

How much would Sunderland be sold for these days? £50 million? Thats a lot of money for someone to spend if they have less than £500 million because its not just a case of spending for success, which you rightly highlight as no longer being possible under FPP, its also a case of propping up the economic reality of a relegation which could cost another £30-40 million.
If I had £500 million I would think very carefully before buying a premier league club these days.
This - 100% - MoN is not my cup of tea either - The way he walked out on Villa after spending loads of money was a joke (and the timing as well) - if he does that to us then what happens? He also doesn't play the most attractive football in the world and once he sees how fast Elmo is and how good he is in the air, he'll start every game and lump the ball to him.
BTW - I know that is our current tactic but I want things to change - Hughes or maybe an international name - hear that Arsenal fans were shouting for Wenger's name a few weeks ago - I'd have him.....![]()
Why does everyone say O Neill plays ****e football? In his second season at Villa, he had a team that scored 71 goals that season - a record only bettered at the club by the 1981 European cup winning team. He also had 3 cup finals and 2 wins at Leicester and a cup final with Villa. He won countless trophies at Celtic, not as easy as some would have us believe (just ask Neil Lennon) and has a record that no SAFC manager has had post war. He led Villa from the bottom of the EPL when he came to 3 consecutive top 6 finishes as well.
Also, just when did we have a peroid of watching great football exactly to complain about MoN's style or credibility? We had 2 or 3 years under Reid and there were spells under Smith and Durban but they were intertwined with 25 years of utter cak football.
If MoN came here, played hoof ball every week (which he doesnt btw) and won a cup, I wouldnt give a flying ****. At the moment I am watching football that makes paint drying observation sound exciting and have about as much chance of winning something as Bruce has of not making excuses for failing.
O Neill would be a superb manager for us. No question about it.
"I would have crawled up the M1 on hands and knees over broken glass to be manager at Roker Park."
That gents is passion. Said by one of the greatest managers who ever lived. A manager we foolishly turned away!
Of all the names bandied about to succeed Bruce, the only one with any personal affinity to our club is MON.
The two clubs he supported as a boy were Celtic and the lads. He's already managed Celtic with great success, after his lengthy lay off from the game I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to take over our hot seat.
And maybe just maybe, some of his own boyhood passion for SAFC would come with him.
