hey twins - you embarrass me......:cheesy:

I just love the game - but played with principles and fairness.
Not much chance of that with some of the carrying-ons!

Why shouldn't I have a soft spot for more than 1 team?

Twins - just thought - I met a guy walking by the Thames in the summer - knew of Alan McDonald ( what a star ) - still manages a kids team over there I believe?

Tony Fernandes or COME ON LETS BE 'AVIN YE?!!! Are you serious?!!
<laugh>

I think you'll find that outburst was 6 (six) years ago, and as such is historical and irrelevant. Delia's football club have been through a lot in those six years and all credit to her for standing by them in adverse times <ok>

TF, apparently had talks with Delia and the Norwich board, but she said piss off, we don't want no dyer'ere <yikes>

born near Brentford & QPR - full on fan of Rs in my youth - Morgan twins, Mark Lazarus, even further back Bedford\Leary!!

Got older, married, mortgage and kids - no spending power - had to stop going and travelling away.<wah>
Just remembered Alec Stock - what a man! Once let me on the team coach - sat next to Pete Springett - back from Walsall.
Footie became a lower priority.

Eventually got converted by Father-in-law and old-school mates to Arsenal.
Had to admit the ball on the deck was good - became a tv fan. Couldn't get to Highbury very often. Now pensioner.....

How on earth can you change what team you support, what is the point in that ??

Soft spots fair enough but to change your team, no way, never.

^^ This I have to agree with! I was born just outside Norwich, and they are, always have been, and always will be MY team!

My parents moved to Suffolk <yikes> when I was 4, dragging me with them! When I was 16, I left home and moved to London to join the Met. Police Cadets! I then moved to Ashford in Kent, back to London, then on to Lincoln, finally moving to Somerset 11 years ago!

Where-ever I have been living, I always go to watch local teams play, I just love football, but who-ever I'm watching, my great love is always, ALWAYS, Norwich!

Last I heard was he resigned as manager of Glentoran last year; a kid's team, really? One of the all time greats, still has plenty to give to the game.

As far as judging you, when I get to your age or walk a mile or two in your shoes then I'll pass judgement on you.
In the meantime, respect<ok>

Swords, I wouldn't laugh too soon. Other than putting up the money to buy players TF hasn't actually done anything other than talk - yet. Once he delivers the dream to QPR and it's fans then you can laugh, until then I wouldn't go round make rash statements <ok>

Hows Stephen Fry doing? Riveting new show he has on Sunday night about......words. Cliffhanger stuff <laugh>.

Delia would want to watch out cos Fry might try to slip Lambert his sausage and I don't mean for How To Cook 2012! :emoticon-0102-bigsm

A bit taken aback by your last sentence Ellers, perhaps my insight is not as poor as you believe. Publicity is one thing but getting people on board because they saw a pretty passenger carrier in the local airport or sports car whizzing around a F1 circuit is completely different. Yes, the name QPR might be better known in time and while you could argue the toss "well it's worldwide brand then", it's pretty meaningless if nothing else comes from it other than the name being known more widespread.

I have no idea if what TF plans to do will work or not, and I suspect neither do you. I accept he is doing lots of nice things for QPR and certainly saying all the right things but isn't that what all new investors do during the early part of their tenure - make all the right noises? The proof of the pudding will be in the eating at a much later date. If his grand plans pay off, then great for QPR. If they do not, do not be too surprised is all I am saying.

I suspect TF does really like QPR but also i understand that he is a businessman and one day would like to make money as any board does (Norwich included). But whatever anyone says he has ‘put his money where his mouth is’.

I must say I am lost with your comments about ‘branding and Publicity’ because surely if a plane or an F1 car has a logo on it and with the right connections that can lead to deals/sponsorship then surely that would generate money for the club.
For example if Delia plugs her new cook book on a BBC show and it makes people interested and they buy it and with some of the money made she puts it into Norwich then that will benefit your club? TF will do this but on a bigger scale.

My company uses sponsors and through advertisement and marketing we get jobs from abroad and have a healthy future in these hard times. And yes we have a logo people can recognise it on a side of a bus or on a train just like an F1 car or plane.

This time last year on the old 606 board I was debating our future with some Reading posters and was mocked for what I said. Basically I told them that QPR were gearing up for Premiership football and would be going places on and off the field and that we were a million miles away from them now. They told me I was deluded and look at the clubs now? We are playing Norwich in the Premiership and they are playing Ipswich in the Championship.

I will say the same again this year that under our owners we will be going forward on all fronts.

As for who will stay up and go down I am not sure as its too early.

tony fernandes is a west ham fan. he then claimed he was a norwich city fan because of his links to norfolk through lotus and tried to buy us. his intentions with our club were deemed 'unsuitable' by delia and our chief executive mr mcnally and was told in no uncertain terms to 'shove off'. now he is at qpr... the guy has made a good start with you guys but beware: he may not be a messiah - its early days and he is very good at talking the talk but my own club were convinced he couldn't walk the walk <ok>

canary - you are a daft sod.
Have you never heard of kids supporting the top team of the day?
It was Wolves in my primary school years. Then Munich meant manure.
and so it goes on - Liverpool since then etc.

Most change to their local team or whatever.

plastic - what a stupid dismissive description - sums you up. ignorant.

My Daughter supports Swansea City, as a kid I supported Swansea City, I have never followed another club at all, sorry but supporting your home town team , or one who has a real connection for you, is the one you should support! Sorry I have no connection with Liverpool , Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City etc, why the hell would I support a club that means nothing to me ?

Well if Delia deemed him 'unsuitable' then i guess she must be right. Did she say that when she was sober?

sadly when you mention Delia in the same breath as TF and the Mittal family it really does show that as club you are small fry in the 'bigger picture'. Football has changed and those who act like dinosaurs will become extinct.
