FA Cup

So we’ve been drawn away to Sheffield Wednesday. So this thread might stay up a bit longer than usual!
But yet again eight premier league teams have been drawn against each other and these games will probably get the TV coverage.
I’m sure there used to be a competition where the ‘big’ teams went into a different pot so that the lower league teams got a plum draw in the third and a much needed revenue boost. I suppose it’s too much to ask if this could happen again.

I don't recall that happening in the FA Cup.

Might well be true of the Carabao (League) Cup although that might have just been regional for the first round or two.

I don’t think it was the FA cup either but something at the back of my brain recalls some cup competition where the big clubs were prevented from playing each other, maybe for just the first round.
Or I could have just dreamt it!

Isn’t it that early rounds are regional but top teams don’t come into it until later rounds?

Could well be especially for Prem sides involved in Europe who come in a round later again.
