Amateurism and with little regard to elfin safety. (Christmas - see wot I did there).
Anyway, as a qualified 1970s Sparkie, I would suggest swapping the plug on the left with the one at the very top as the white flex will be more easily bent upwards than the black flex with it's reinforced sleeve, thus allowing a better contact for the live and neutral pins.
