New to this, but ready for ridicule!!!: Been reading the threads for a while though and I have travelled in support of the lads: The 1st game I watched was at Roker Park in the 60's against Leeds. Been there, definately bought the t shirt, travelled as a London branch supporter in the 70's to most matches....dispair (at Wrexham), elation (at Sid James), bafflement (v Charlton: Wembley play-off) and total rant (most weekends of late!!!!)
Question though: why does a premiership manager, (give Bruce some credit not many have come away from Chelskie with a 3-0 win) consistantly play someone like Elmo? I wonder whether he has been shackled by the Chairman so that certain people make money from television rights and shirt sales abroad. :undecided:
Equally as a mag he could never say in his heart of hearts 'KTF, FTM's

I have no idea, especially considering we took him on loan first to avoid the situation we're in now

Our season went into a dive with a defeat at home to the unwashed. On the day SB ran scared and Pardrew said he relished the encounter. SB is a Rabbit in front of fekkin headlights, running scared at every match and behind him a Chairman who wants financial success abroad!! We need a fekkin manager with a backbone, SB: STAND UP AND FECKIN MAN UP...........rant over

Strange to say,but my first game was a home game at Roker Park, against Leeds Utd in the mid 1960's!!I went with a school-friend,who was a Leeds fan,and we travelled the 100 mile-journey,by train, changing trains twice each way.I had my red and white scarf on,and my friend showed no colours,as he was an away fan.I remember that I was the one celebrating on the journey home.

I don't think he is as bad as is being made out, but it seems that a section of our fans can't live without having a scapegoat on the go..

Hi calmcumbrian, I was with my uncle in the Roker End, I'll have to check but I think we lost 1-0. Still Roker and Sunderland was in my blood from then on and all the many many ups and downs that have gone with it. Good: last minute goal to draw against Birmingham in 98', sat in ajoining rooms in the Falkland Islands and my oppo was a Birmingham supporter, bad: the Charlton wembley playoff (young son watched dad cry) the ugly: losing against the unwashed in September, new wall required, lol

H'way, the supporters have been very patient imo, our home record is feckin atrocious. He might get a bit more respect by showing a bit more passion; then again I go back to my 1st Post: is he being manipulated, which makes it a bit difficult when choosing the team?

Not as bad as people say, but not good enough, should have never signed him. IMO Bruce plays him so we can lump it up to him

I was down at Wrexham for that game....was that the last game of the season one, where we were all on the pitch celebrating promotion, and it came over the tannoy that there had been a late goal elsewhere (Stoke or Notts County I think) which meant we didn't go up?

davros thanks for that, it brought back some good memories (except for the tannoy at the end!), Apologies to all for the repetition in any reply........ a few pints of 'Tribute' real ale on a sunday afternoon accelerates the onset of dementia!

I actually thought he put some lovely crosses into the box first half on Saturday - but the problem is he did it without looking up (and there was no-one there - why would a player attack the box when a winger has the ball?)
Thought the early miss by Colback on 10 minutes affected his game - very similar to chelsea he seemed to lose confidence due to this - although others may disagree I think he needs taking out of the team for Vaughan. Cattermole was excellent in the second half - passing, movement and looked good on the ball IMO so I'd play him and Vaughan in centre mid against Wigan.

Larsson back on the right and Sessegnon on the left - 2 STRIKERS (not one striker and one midfielder you hope can play as a striker!)

    Welcome Devon...

Why does he play Elmo? Well he must see something that 99% of people don't see..

He is the Egyptian Beckham ya know..

We can but hope for two strikers and not playing two defensive midfielders might help.

I do wonder following on from what the S Korean coach said, perhaps Ji is not up to it and SB has made a mistake in buying him. Also is Noble really any good? Both Ji and Ryan will be watched closely in training and perhaps they are not up to the mark? Bendtner certainly did not look interested on Saturday, wandered out onto the wing every available opportunity, it is becoming obvious that we have a goal scoring problem. If a striker had been in there instead of Rico and Jack, they might have scored. If this is the case I wonder how much if anything SB (or the new manager) will have to spend in Jan.

Personally I'd have brought on Noble before Ji on Saturday - he'd have been full of confidence after his hat-trick for the reserves and that is something we are lacking at the moment - I'd have brought Noble on for Colback personally and moved Richardson inside with Sessegnon on the wing - he is a natural finisher - a proper poacher really which is something we have lacked since DB was here (look at Hernandes at Man Utd for how important that type of player is!!!)
