I would imagine anyone in their right minds would agree with that, but then you have to remember it’s a government decision and there’s not many in their right minds.

The one I had I was driving sensible. Left at 4 to get to Huddersfield from Chester le street. Rainy evening so lights and wipers, but thus did 96 miles and had 11 left. I expected losing a bit, but not “half the tank”Haway lads, it is a horses for courses thing. Sounds to me like naff experiences to date are based on naff expectations.
Our second motor is a Leaf, 140 mile range. It does 140 too, if you drive it to get the range. Advice how to get the range is front and centre, some buggers dont read it though. The battery charges everything remember - I imagine drivers doing 90 on a motorway, with the heated seats on, air con in the back, bluetooth a devices galore and wondering why they dont get the range promised
My first motor is a diesel and they tell me I get 60 miles to the gallon. Bollocks. Not the way I drive it anyway.
Elec cars are fine and serve a cracking pupose. Ours is the run about town, jobbing car and it is charged once down to 40%. Diesel for everything else.
I hate driving the elec, it is ****e. Might as well point and go. I have driven teslas and they are the same. No engine no driving in my opinion, but I love driving anything with a gear stick and wheels. But elec cars arent as bad as some are making out in my opinion, just need to know what they are useful for.
This is the crux of it. Same reason my boss got his Tesla. Much cheaper on lease particularly when yo take into account insurance, tyres, servicing (which, I’m led to believe, is stupid money for an EV) if you can afford it, good on you. I pay nothing per month fir mine as it’s an old banger I’m running into the ground. 2010 s max. Diesel costs about £100 per month, tax is £21, insurance £35. Tyres I get for next to nothing as I know people. Averaged out, likely to cost me around 200-250 per month including fuel.
Our lad’s Toyota Avensis has just topped 230,000 miles, not kilometres and he hasn’t done a thing to it other than service and new tyres. Good cars go forever now if maintained.
Our lad had a Vectra and when he was coming to visit us in the Lakes he was bombing up the M6 ( as usual ) when there was an almighty bang and loads of black smoke poured out the back after another mile another bang and grey smoke came out the back, drove perfect for the next 2 years until he swapped it for a new Toyota
