To be fair, Tanner has made a huge step up, and is making a decent fist of it.
There are nuggets out there.
The problem is, we’ve spent millions to find that nugget.
Would have been cheaper just to pay the going rate for 1 championship proven player.

And that is why strikers defending in our half get taken down on the halfway line on a counter attack

That's not what Erol thinks.
Attack from the back, defend from the front.
So play the defenders up front and the attackers in defence, God knows what Bulit thinks, he is sometimes up and sometimes down, so an upside down manager and a back to front team.

WoL just caught up with this one. Ex-Swan, 21 years of age.

Would he be one for now, or one for the future?

On the point of every signing improving the squad / being better than we have, who would he replace?
Same sort of age as Etete, who has shown some recent form at this level. Does he replace him?
We've recently signed Meite on a 2 year contract. Proven at this level.
Ugbo? I suppose they could be lining someone up to step in once Ugbo's loan ends.
Either that, or pure speculation on WoL part.

Will Erol sign players for next season or us he only interested in the here and now?

See Clingo's post a few days ago on this guy. Hardly prolific apart from one game. Looks no better than Ubgo.

That's a huge no from me.

We have good players in the Under 21's more deserving of a chance.

Any January signings have to improve the team straightaway and make a difference.

I agree we need to be bringing more youngsters through, with several showing promise.
Not sure what it is, but we struggle to get players from breaking through to the 1st team to first team regulars. It is an issue.

Longer term, I don't have an issue with bringing players in for development, if they are better than what we have. They shouldn't just block our youngsters though.
You're right for the coming window though, they need to be 1st team ready, be it as a starter or on the bench.

The last few Jan windows have seen players brought in to help avoid the drop.

This window could be different if we’re still in the mix for 2 reasons: one we can pay a transfer or loan fee and two some additional quality in key areas could propel a play off push.

Correct. Totally different feeling about the upcoming transfer window and the purpose for which it needs to be used.

The current squad has enough within it to stay up this season - the boot is on the other foot now as to where the right decisions can take us, rather than just save us.

More of the same/similar quality will add depth to the squad but not necessarily improve it. Astute decisions backed with a certain amount of funding would put the club in a strong position to challenge for a playoff place - at least.

Of course many clubs will look to improve in January, but I've seen nothing so far this season in other sides that makes anything a foregone conclusion come May.

I know we're less than half way through this season, but it'll also set us up nicely for next season.
Steadily building year on year, transfer window on transfer window.

What clubs need and what they think they are getting is usually way off the mark. All managers say we will only bring players i if they improve the team...how is that working out from experience?

Well, you certainly don't set out to sign players worse than you've got.
