BCFC in 11th take on Q P R in 23rd at LOFTUS ROAD. BCFC 6th worst goal scorers v the divisions 2nd worst Defensively BCFC has conceeded 16 [ same as scored ] the 4th Equal best defence! v 2nd equal worst! They have their new manager now in situ whilst BCFC await their fate on who will be at the helm. Info on opponents used to available in the lead up to the game but the new website is, for me, not a patch on the old one. WE have an important game on Saturday and just 1 reference which says how much it costs and coach travel .......... and watch it on TV ..............
Either going to be a great start for Liam and if Nige was in place I would expect a win.So with Liam in place I expect nothing less. Hope this is the start of a new dawn and exciting times ahead
Need 3 points, as RR said would have expected it from Nige, no less expected from the new guy. Looking for him to maintain our away form whilst turning around our home form.
We’ve not been great lately, so whoever would’ve been in charge, grinding a result would be a bonus imo.. coming back from international break will hopefully give an indication of the players & coach relationship going forward..
New manager Liam Manning has an easy first game? or will it be a disaster ............ dead cat bounce and all that! Rotherham has always been a bit of an erratic form team 3 draws and a win in last 5 [ drew Soton/ Ipswich ] shows their draw against QPR last week was quite strong form! SO QPR not an easy push over
I am looking forward to a fresh start, Nige has gone, he is history, he did a great job for us and has enabled good conditions for Liam to take up the baton, I have tried to buff up my knowledge on his previous performances, they look solid enough for me, he came across very well in his press conference, he is not advocating earthquaking changes, no promises of European football in 3 years, just expressed his and the clubs ambition of Premier league ASAP. If QPR beat us Saturday so be it, he is our head coach and I support him 100%, just a thought for Nige I thank him for his effort and wish him a speedy, complete recovery from his medical problems.
Read somewhere he has spent a couple days in / at hospitals having tests and exploratories. WERE THESE PRE BOOKED ? bearing in mind there is a couple weeks off coming up? So any surgery would fit into this window .........
If Pearson was still in charge I wouldn't have expected a win this weekend. Manning has a big job on his hands and the January window will be interesting. During his 'presser' yesterday he said 'he said if we get pressed high we'll go over the top'. So will a big man up front be his first buy ? Because it's a waste of time aiming at Conway or Wells from 40 feet.
I’m certainly no tactical expert but going over the top of a press doesn’t mean lumping it up for a big man surely?
Nige was still in place when I dared to expect us to beat Stoke…!! It’s the Championship - anything can happen…
I wouldn’t be unhappy with us acquiring a big target man. Right now if we can’t play through the opposition then we can’t do anything. It would give us an extra option - and this league is full of big strong defenders who bully our poor young boys.
difficult to say really LM is against a team he knows little about .. bit like a cup competition till he he used to Championship clubs??? ... I would go 4 [ 3 1 / 4 ] 2 someone over 6 foot along side Conway [ Naismith! played there before! ] That would mean you have choose 4 from the said 5 to allow for KN! A new manager, new ideas who are we to second guess him anyway? He doesnt seem to have a "favoured" line up at OXFORD each game seems to line up differently 3-4-3 / 4 - 5 - 1 / 4 3 1 2 / etc only time will tell!
Naismith has to play, probably in midfield at the expense of Weimann. And we don't have another keeper.
I agree with Naismith coming in, but not in place of AW, as he can't play that high, so would need a formation change. To keep this formation, I'd move TGH to RB, and drop Tanner to the bench to accommodate.
On his CV Naismith is "true" utility player and has a period of his time scoring a goal every 5 games [ 32 goals ] ... allbeit in lower league! we cant actually say need a formation change as we do mot know what formation LM will start with? A new pair of eyes [ coaching set up, although only a matter of days old] might see something different? As I previously posted his formations at OXFORD have not been the same starting line game after game! Q ... is the changing around of the starting line a tactic? the opposition not knowing what to expect?
