I am really struggling to find words to describe my thoughts surrounding the expected debacle on the hiring of our next manager based on our less than stellar history of getting things right. The thought process, if you can call it that, must be fairly stringent in it's vain attempt to find us the best manager available that is willing to put themselves directly between the Lansdowns and the on-field product. Hoping that this time we will get it right is a pipe dream for me as it has become a very tiring hobby supporting a team that is incapable of making any game changing decisions that would bring joy to our world. I wonder what false promises are being floated around the interview process and even more importantly will any of them ever be kept, because that is the sign we all need to know that this time Lansdown is prepared to back his actions with follow-up reality and openness. There is nobody on the current radar that fits my mandates, but then again why would they, because quite clearly the cheapest option is certainly on the table yet again. The January transfer window will soon be upon us and if the powers that be decide to miss it again perhaps the last person off the ship could please turn off the lights and put a "For Sale" sign on the front lawn

    Ah well, it's done.
Although I'm still angry at NP's dismissal.
    Wish him the best.

I'm not sure it was the right time to move NP on, but I'm not angry about it, just disappointed, as it's yet another City manger who didn't get us to the PL, or even in the mix for that. I have my own internal conflict on whether promotion to the PL is a good or bad thing for City.

We go again, and as always, I will support the new manager, and wish him every success for my club.

A mate just called to say it reminded a bit when Cotterill was sacked.
He wasn't allowed funds, yet LJ did get backing.
Pearson worked on a tight budget yet Manning will be allowed shed loads in January.

His words not mine, but hope he's right and Lansdown does release some of the Semenyo and Scott transfers.

Not true, Cotterill was given funds, a hell of a lot for a club just promoted from L1, but he couldn't land his targets. We've been here before....

Wouldn’t surprise me either, Nige was brought here to steady the ship, was never a SL type and was not going to be trusted with SL’s money. This guy will most likely get to use some of the ‘nest egg’ if only to have the opportunity to prove “them” right.

Feeling completely underwhelmed tbh, but he’s the manager now, not his fault what went on before, wish him all the best and hope he succeeds, because if he succeeds so do we.

like Sup I have my internal conflict about promotion, but that’s another story.

As City fans we’ll always support whoever’s in charge as our main interest is success for our club, the frustration I feel is because I believed we were on to something, which wasn’t given time to come to fruition. However what’s done is done, I for one will give the new guy a chance to prove me wrong. I didn’t want Cotts when he came, he completely turned my opinion around, I hope this guy does the same.

My intention is to be positive, give the new guy a chance, I think he’s on bit of a hiding to nothing though as JL and BT have set him up like a kipper. Again not his fault. We all want success for City above all else though surely?

We may not like the manager at any given time, but surely we want them to succeed, even if grudgingly.

The way the Lansdowns run Bristol City has many of us fuming and in particular the method of recruiting a new manager has become a farce for all to see. Unfortunately here we go again with a new manager who will get some bad press just because they have replaced a popular figure in our daily lives but that fact alone should not be a factor in our verbal comments as it is way too early to judge the newcomer in our midst. Liam's background hasn't set my footballing heart all aglow but I will give him the courtesy he deserves as our new head coach but for me his job title doesn't send out the right vibe because it tells me that he has been hired with the proviso that he keeps quiet and leaves the big decisions to a Lansdown who will always know better. Another yes man is not what we need and perhaps Nigel failed to cross that line too many times to be tolerated by people who will not trust others with their money, especially if they fight back against lousy decisions from the top. Welcome to my club Liam and despite all of the comments regarding your hiring from myself and others we all wish you success in your new job and whatever else you do during your tenure please be open and honest but above all be yourself. Good luck mate. <cheers>
