That led to a lot of people who knew him turning a blind eye to what he did, many knew about it but were benefitting from him in one way or another.
Hospitals with his charity donations and the BBC with his popularity.
There are many people who should be held to account for what he got away with.

Possibly including Starmer

Yeah, this is the part I know about, that people knew but didn't say a word. Which is ****ing mental to me.

I always felt that the Thatcher angle was played up because it's very easy to blame politicians for EVERYTHING. But, I personally doubt the entire cabinet were in the clue that he was ****ing kids and bodies, he generally just kissed Thatchers arse from what I can tell and she thought he was a useful idiot.

But the BBC ups MUST have known, I know that I saw a BBC guy saying that it's doubtful the very top of the company were fully aware, but middle management around him must have been knowledgable of it.

And as if someone asks for access to the morgue at your hospital and you don't suspect something, hospitals are gossip factories, as if they weren't absolutely in the know.

I think part of it was that there was a culture rife with entitlement in the entertainment industry. Loads of Radio and TV presenters have had sexual allegations made against them. And there was also a culture of ... don't complain because these people are stars and nobody will believe you and you will be ruined in the press.

Saville took it all to his own depraved depths

But 100% people knew and enabled him

I think Starmer may have had an opportunity to prosecute him when he was head of the CPS

Ok, but you could probably say that about a **** ton of folk in the UK throughout his career.

The BBC could have done something too.

Problem is, unless you're a fly on the wall in these meetings/discussions you will have no idea who tried to do something and was prevented by someone above or whatever.

Starmer has claimed that although he was head of the CPS at the time he knew nothing of the case being built against such a high profile star.

Absolutely

It was endemic for years. It was a given in lots of industries that for women to succeed they had to give sexual favours to men. Add to that in the entertainment culture with groupies and pop stars, DJ's, radio and TV presenters all getting in on the act and you can see how the abuse was rife.

Saville was 100% enabled. But because of his high status, he was also protected.

Just skipped to page 12291, just random to see if this page has been defiled before.

Everyone was chatting about Israeli strawberries.

Nice to see Treble is consistent <laugh>

Filled with blood of palestinians so they should do.

Why is there a full blown discussion about Jimmy Saville and the BBC on our sacred match day thread?

@Lovearsenalcock @brb

Don’t stand for it lads. Our elite status will be under threat if people looking in see this nonsense.
Mate there is only so much you can say about a few games on any one day.
Normal service will be resumed when games start to kick off later on Sunday.

Don't really get this picture. The corner flag marks the boundary doesn't it? Balls well beyond the corner flag in that pic. Why have they drawn on an extra blue line?

Or is the corner flag completely CGI and not really there?

<laugh>

The corner flag in reality is much thicker

The sports pages have just run with this 'robbery' narrative though.

Looks to me like Newcastle would have had the same case if it wasn't given.

It's a far cry from Liverpool or willocks goal vs Palace last season.

Watching MOTD, I can see why there was such a kerfuffle about the Havertz challenge. He gets the timing just about wrong to not do damage but you don’t dive in like that if you aren’t trying to put one on the opposition.

Also did the same to Wilson 1 min into the second half ... I get it arsenal are upset but nobody is crying about that or the fact the ball didn't cross the line.
