He's been good in my fantasy team. He's African (and French) so we'd lose him to the AFCON which isn't ideal. Read the other day that there are no city players going to the AFCON. I think it's Forest who are losing 5.
Yeah, the AFCON is always a consideration. Like taking Mo and Sadio out of our first eleven a few years ago. Mbeumo has been impressive this season in Mo's position
The name of Mason Mount was brought up by Gary Neville and how he was ‘going to Liverpool’ in the summer, but instead, he joined a ‘graveyard’ at Manchester United. ‘He was going Liverpool’: Gary Neville says £55m ace joined a 'graveyard' amid Jamie Carragher argument (hitc.com)
neville is an idiot. that kind of cheap points scoring in some vain attempt to half defend his beloved club is utterly pointless. Mount was seen as a cheap option, a maybe at best. Chelsea priced him out of any cheap move therefore he was never ever ever coming to anfield. the reality is his moron club even said they wouldn't buy him at the fee asked them ploughed in before the end of cheslea's financial year and gave them every penny asked for. rat boy should be crying over that not thinking utd beat lfc to a player.
Tbph the situation says more about Mount to me than Utd Can’t blame them for trying to sign him Players can see what we can see so no idea what they are thinking atm by going to Utd they have a good manager and still the same issues They have been told by managers fans and players what the issues are yet they still go …
mount wanted 250k a week. chelsea would not give it but would want 60mil for ffp utd were the only club willing to please both parties.
And therein lies the answer Cant blame Mount for wanting the money either but as I say it speaks more about Mount than it does anyone else imho
it's very obvious his club didn't rate him enough to see him as anything but a means to balance their mad schemes on the hooks. it's very obvious he didn't care where he got his "perceived value" but he was sure as he'll going to get it and boy hood club or whatever could burn for all he cared. utd just look desperate thsts all. we looked like we examined all our options and came to certain conclusions on each option that led to to Szobozlai as best value for us. we basically paid the same for him in a fee but less wages. the same can be said of getting macallister or then rejected lavia but being rejected by caicedo. we had a series of other options we chose to take. Mount was somewhere #onthelist but he was quickly moved away from then it was clear Chelsea were out for cash. nobody should have supported cheslea before the end of the financial year and imo bother arsenal and utd will regret that for a while.
I see this quite a lot. If you're a second tier standard player then maybe but for players like Mount and Caicedo, as two examples, you should really be weighing up what's best for your career, not your bank balance. Poor judgements tend to bring poor results.
I dont reckon it's as unusual as you'd think. I expect especially for the likes of Mount who've growing up being in academy's, moving through the ages, everything geared toward the next level, at some point it becomes the job, the grind we all experience.
There's no way of knowing is there mate. We see players sitting on the bench somewhere on big wages who would have been playing here and we fill in the blanks.
Think there are prob a lot of players who prob don’t love it like us fans. Think was Ben white saying few years ago he hardly ever watches football as has no interest in it. I’m sure he prob likes playing it more though. But I imagine there are a lot of players who see it as a career and want to just make as much money as possible so can retire at 35 and then enjoy the rest of their lives worry free. Have a feeling was a spurs defender many years ago that came out saying he didn’t really like football etc. not something you’d prob admit while playing as can put fans/managers off
there's lots of examples of people who live and breathe it and lots of examples of also rans with lots of talent who could have done more. there's very few very successful footballers who don't really care.
Like you, I remember a player saying after he'd retired that he hadn't enjoyed playing, or something like that. I'm sure there are some who have fallen out of love along the way. I can't see anyone going into professional sports of any kind just to make money although after a while they may end their careers feeling that way. Several players, further into their careers, have suffered with depression and anxiety for lots of different reasons like not being able to handle the fame or the criticism. Some burn out and some waste their talent by partying and living the high life when they should be training hard and looking after themselves. I'm sure they all started out wanting to be great players first and foremost before other things got in the way. They are all human with all the complexities that brings. All that said, I do struggle to understand how a player with so much potential is prepared to compromise on realising that potential. Even more so that they could possibly be thinking ' I will see these years of playing out and then take all the money I've made and do what I really wanted to do'.
Joe cole? sturridge? ravel morrison? there's 100s of them probably but in the end they can stack shelves at tesco or kick a ball. a lot of them get thst one contract and thats that. markovic for example was sulky headed and wouldn't take a contract lesewhere due to his 20k a week here and ended up nowhere. really most of us would be quite happy with a million a year 5 year contract and it would set us up for life.
