If this is the shortlist, then Rowett is probably the best option based on recent form. I’d like us to go outside of the UK and take a punt on a foreign manager, like Norwich, Brentford etc., have done in recent years., this shortlist is just a merry go round of failed managers elsewhere. I’m surprised they haven’t thrown Steve Bruce’s name in as well….

The above candidates are an absolute joke in comparison to Nigel Pearson.

It really beggars belief the more I think about the decision to sack NP.
Any brain cell left between JL's ears must surely realise the rancid AG atmosphere that any new manager will encounter.
Still in Cyprus and this reminds me of a holiday in Spain 43years ago when I heard the news Norman Hunter was leaving, I think for Barnsley.
We went south massively back then and I wonder which direction this dreadful decision takes BCFC.
Just hope this season we can stay above Sheff Wed, QPR and Rotherham.

'Short list' - it couldn't happen.
    Could it ?

If this has been in the pipe for a while to get rid of NP, which some people on this forum have suggested it has, then that points to Jones, as the other 2 are only recently unemployed. He also has a history of doing well on a shoestring budget at Luton, which will appeal to our owners. None of them really stand out, even though the clubs they have managed recently have done slightly better than us with similar or smaller budgets and squads.

Nathan Jones? **** at Stoke and Southampton. Should be no where near the top of the list of thinking.
My monies on Rowlett being he left two weeks ago his own accord, and rumoured to been approached already.

Keeping my conspiracy theory going.. Rowlett might have been a recommendation by Nige, knowing the outcome..
Weird that he left the club on his own accord..

One of these rare occasions where I simply couldn’t care less who the next head coach is at this minute.

The next boss will be on a hiding to nothing, the squad at present is threadbare until injured start to return, the fan base didn’t want shot of the previous manager. Our wage budget is maxed out, our squad depth is non existent because the board wouldn’t allow money from Scott’s sale to reinvested. With those restrictions who’s going to even want the job. To have any chance of appointing anyone decent they’ll have to loosen the purse strings, then questions will be asked, why not do it for Nige.

Bringing back Cotts would as much madness as sacking Nige in the first place.. can’t believe his name is anywhere near the hat..

I have followed BCFC since 1951 and whilst the earlier years were not meaningful in a sense that "you knew to much about the club and its heirarchy" you knew the players via EVENING POST / EVENING WORLD /GREEN UN.... when the van came to our town with the "green un" I used to have to meet it all weathers and grab a parcel of about 20 papers for delivery in our area of it , as a "paper boy" and deliver them! there was excitement and an acceptance of the results our only link

Internet etc has brought the "follower" onto the lip of the bowl looking in, in to a murky often secretive mixture of club politics! Fans rumourize, boards are reluctant purveyors of whats in their minds or goings on! Conspiracy issues are rife amongst some fans, and some fans get set in their ways on what they believe is "the truth" [ albeit some or most is hearsay! ]

Regarding Toms comment " I must say I am in the same boat at the present".. and dont feel happy about being so ..............

my opinions of the "board" is quickly diminishing .. ........... and that of SL from a 9/10 to less ... JL I think is the torpedo that will sink the ship!

I agree, it would be suicide bringing Cotts back. he's had his day, and has done nothing since he left us.

Surely you go for John Eustace. He looked like he was going places with Birmingham when they ludicrously sacked him.

Eustace would be my choice too out of that list.
Not sure any of the candidates would be able to improve us much though given the injury situation.

Agree Eustace, and like you can’t see anyone getting more out of players available.

Knowing SLs Bristol City it will be about 4 weeks of interviews, then Curtis Fleming will be appointed.

I'm not so sure, but time will tell. I have never rated Fleming as our head coach, so, for me it's not inconceivable that a new coach could get more from them.
