He might have been in a training camp for 12 weeks, but it doesn't mean he was training the full 12 weeks. The rolls of flab around his back says that. If he's in that shape against Usyk, he loses. I've never thought he was the most powerful puncher out there, compared to AJ, Wilder or the Klitschkos at their peak, but he had enough weight behind him to hurt someone. But tonight he never looked like unsettling his opponent and hurting them. And this is what he has to be worried about. He never physically dominated his opponent and his limitations as a boxer were there tonight. Lennox Lewis, Vitally Klitschko, Larry Holmes etc would have stayed behind a solid jab, picked off a few points winning shots and opened up for a combination now and again. Tyson in his prime would keep coming forward, working the body, putting on pressure, not letting you settle, forcing an opportunity. All would dominate the rounds and gradually ease away and make the opponent have to take chances, which open up again opportunities to score points. He didn't do that, it was as though he thought he could walk through him after a few rounds and when it didn't happen he had no plan b. He was lucky tonight.
Ngannou won the first 3 rounds but done nothing after that. Fury landed more punches in 8 rounds it’s not the robbery everyone’s claiming. Ngannou impressed me though. Fury looked overweight, slow and not bothered.
Yeah, I think the problem for Fury tonight was that he wasn’t mentally on it. I had them 4 rounds each after 8 rounds. Ngannou a point ahead with the knock down. Fury comfortably won the last two rounds so took it 95-94. Shout out to Ngannou. He could mix it with the Whytes and Parker’s in the division. I think he’d give Wilder and AJ trouble. He is an accomplished boxer, nobody seen that coming. Certainly caught me out.
Just can’t work out the 96-93. No way was that possible!! I saw it the same as you. Agree mind the lad could comfortably mix it in the division. Very impressed
Looking at the highlights, Fury did more 'boxing work' while Ngannou played out of his skin, so you can see why it was close but Fury just edged it. It's also clear Fury was nowhere near his best.
Watched it back today with no beers in me. Was really close to be fair. I think Francis will be fuming with himself on the last 2 rounds he pissed it away. Only lads 6 punched in the final 2 rounds. 1 round either away I understand but the 96-93 is a terrible card. Fury was not in a 12 week camp like. No way. Will be a different animal Vs Uysk
Watched it after a few drinks myself so not entirely sure but just my judgement at the time that Ngannou had to be 4 points up after 3 rounds. Can’t remember which round it was exactly but he done well in one of the latter rounds too 7th or 8th? So that’s a 5 point advantage then Fury wins the other 6 giving him the edge by a single point. No idea how someone given 96-93 that’s dreadful! Got a few mates who are well into the UFC saying he was robbed as is the story on twitter etc but I get the feeling that’s just because it was closer than everyone thought it would be. We all expected fury to piss it and because he didn’t, plus the knock down, people think ngannou was robbed but as you’ve said he just wasted a few rounds by barely throwing a punch leaving Fury to take easy points. Mate chucked £100 on Fury to win on points in R8 and it was 6/5.. was 1/4 in R6 that’s how close it was!
Aye good analysis and good bet that. Fury took those last couple rounds without a challenge. That's what will piss Francis off when he watches it back
Utterly expected decision, boxing is corrupt and this is just another example. Ngannou the real world champion after that. Usyk should drop the fight and ask for the real world champ.
