I don't know what's happened to this board, there was a time when I was the clear leader in the doom and gloom stakes and told to stop being so depressing and down beat with every comment. Fast forward and I'm probably one of the most upbeat and cheery posters on here . Papa Warnock will take us to the play offs I'm telling ya Kiwi !
Steve Bruce is still out there somewhere ! Doesn't even bear thinking about. If Barton, Beale or Sherwood are even mentioned in passing by any board member , then I can see Loftus Road being torched !
Roy Keane kept Sunderland up in his first part season with them. Promoted the following season. Worth it just the see the look on Taylor Richards face.
Still reckon Elmur Fudd is worth a look. After rabbit season, of course. Seriously though, l'd take Colin in a heartbeat to keep us up.
Has to be warnock to save the season and spend the time wisely (yes I know this is QPR) to line up a longer term manager. Warnock can get a tune from this bunch, as Beth said, we have some decent players - internationals at that Tighten up the defence, stop leaking goals, bring in a free agent striker or 6 and grind our way to 21st
Yep, I fear the same. However, I suppose we don't have a lot of options. I'd like Warnock till the end of the season to see if he can keep us up, as I think it will take someone with his vast experience to do it. Someone like Eustace, who I'd like long term, may take too long to make an impact. If course, with the **** position we're in now, neither of them may be able to save us.
The damage was done too long ago, and the board, probably for sentimental reasons, took too long to pull the trigger....we all knew he was a dead man walking. How he survived after the Blackburn game is anyones guess. We.now need a miracle worker to get us back up the table...there is still over 30 games left, so a good 90 point haul should see us back in the play-off mix
Warnock in is another short term fix decision made by a board with no long term plan or clue. We'll get to the end of the season and any decent, available manager, will be snapped up by then, so it'll be back to square one, again.
I've been very sceptical of this set of owners ever since they came in and sacked Warnock. imo, they've never shown that they have any clue on how to run a football club, and that suspicion keeps getting proven right, time after time. However, who knows what would have happened to us financially, without their money. But I wish there was a way for a different set of owners to come in and do it properly, more sensibly.
But what's the alternative, given the crap position we're in? The number one priority has got to be trying to avoid relegation imo.
It’s gut-wrenching that we throw away yet another season. Just shows the incompetence of the owners. I recognise it’s not easy to run a football club but we have been on the rise before and they’ve managed to take us back in decline. A couple of recent managers have hinted at a branch and roots overhaul - and I imagine that’s easier said than done when you keep hiring and sacking managers every few months - but you really do feel there needs to be a change in the whole structure now we have the new training ground. if it’s Warnock (and I’m with the side that’s uncertain about him coming back, but I get the clamour to appoint him and save us from relegation) then so be it. Just get us above the line then we can induct you into the Forever R’s and we can get our new DoF and Coach in for the end of the season for moving forward and a steady rise back up the table (as per 2019 when Warburton came in). Depressing thought how we’ve gone round full circle in 5 years.
Colin until the end of the season, and hope he works his magic and keeps us up. But we will still be in the *hit with the people that run the club.
Barton would need to buy a large box of Cuban cigars, lot of players to stab in the eye with a lit one
Would be sad to see Uncle Neil fail in his last job as I fear he would but it’s the last throw of the dice for us. We’ll be needing playoff form to stay up soon.
You only need a half decent run to move up several places in this league. Get a little run together and you only need average form to scrape above the line. The worrying part for me is we’ve already dropped points against poor teams, which leaves a slightly steeper curve to safety. We have players capable of getting above the line. We just need someone to resurrect them into a positive force. They’ve lost their smiles, their freedom and their sense of fight. Get players in their most effective positions. Get them battling for each other. Get players in the box. Win a few games and absolutely anything is possible. The only way is up for us - literally. Would be nice to turn this season into a battle against the odds rather than a languishing expectation of poor performance after poor performance.
Fortunately it's end of October and not end of March. There's time for a capable manager to get the best out of our players
