Thought we were unlucky last night, a few hit the bar and then, I didn't watch the post match presser but I'm sure Howe will have used the words: "need to take your chances". Wilson especially but also Gordon need to take their big chances last night. Score one of those and I think the game swings and we are in the ascendency.

All in all held our own vs a very experienced top side so nothing to be to devastated about. Once Dortmund scored a very good counter attack it was always going to be tough but the last 20 mins we were knocking on the door just needed that little bit of quality to open it. Also thought for a wet and windy night we didn't take enough shots from distance.

Positives were Willock coming back, biggest negative injury to Isak.

would they have won the champions league with lacelles longstaff Burn and Murphy.. no

People need to accept these players are velw the level required and stop searching for reasons to believe otherwise .... they just aren't.

What I'm saying is Newcastle need to replace the relegation fodder underbelly and they'll be close... that's positive it means 2 years.

Willock as essential he's got things all the the other midfielders don't.. he's a top top player and one of the few top players we've got.. he's top 6 material unlike the dross that still stinking the place out..

The days of the below bar reminents of Ashley's reign are soon to be ended though and then Newcastle will push on.

I think we desperately need a proper right winger, cant watch anymore of Almiron trying to control the ball over the top with the outside of his left cause his right is useless.

Almiron was one of best players yesterday... I don't think the conditions were great either.

I think overall Newcastle did well they are just playing top sides.

I'd rather have Almiron and Olise than Olise and Mat Ritchie in the squad.

That mis-control yesterday was so fustrating, if you want to play RW and cut in on your left, at least learn to control the ball with your right foot ffs!

Gordon should have scored and cost us the goal trying to take the entire team on but everyone wants to go after almiron who's scored some great goals himself and gave also gave his all like Gordon.

    Weird.

Almiron is required even more now with the crap Murphy being injured

He did absolutely nothing apart from lose the ball. You say it was wet but it didn't seem to trouble Gordon when controlling the ball.

I've always maintained there's no shame in losing to Dortmund they are top team with some fantastic players but playing top teams shouldn't mean you lose all ability to control or pass the ball thats a separate issue entirely.

Yes he is required now as we have no other option because as I said before we desperately need a new right winger

Gordon cost is the the game arguably lostbte ball in a dangerous area .

Almiron played well gave everything as he always does and not responsible for Gordon or Wilsons miss but let's not mention that ey.

Not if you try and control it with the wrong foot it isn't. It's something I'm currently working on with my U16's - making sure you have the right body shape to receive the ball and making the right decision of how to control it. I regularly use Popes attempted header against Liverpool as an example, probably not the best decision to try and head the ball when it's 3.5 inches off the ground.

Not having a go at his overall game as I thought he was ok to good last night but that particular instance had me seeing red last night :emoticon-0121-angry

Thats alright then he scored 11 last season the first time in years he hasn't put up dog **** numbers so don't bother looking to improve on him, it's alright that he can't use his right foot to provide crosses and can barely control the ball.

If we sign a better one great but right now I don't think he's a player that deserves blame.

Gordon missed so did Wilson and Gordon cost us the goal they scored unfortunately.

None of those I have a bad word for though we've got much worse players in the squad.

He was the player that created the chance in the 1st place.. he's a good player miggy not easy for any side to deal with.

Where's the noise about Gordon's woeful effort and his responsibility I losing the ball that lead to their goal?

Longstaff and Joelinton were ****ng dreadful yesterday.

I'm not blaming him for the loss though I'm pointing out where there's a weak spot on our team?

It just seems that you cant win, if you expect better then people say Dortmund are too good a team but you also can't suggest weak spots that need improving to closer match them cause our players are great!

Gordon had done the same and knocked the ball into touch when he was sent away down the line second half

I would agree in time yes but when we've got Burn lacelles and Longstaff starting I'm personally sure rw is not the weakest spot.

Last night we just looked like try bards, a plucky lower level outfit who’d got a decent cup draw against a big team. The lack of quality outside of Trippir and Gordon was apparent. Thought Wilson in particular was dire, though Joelinton and Almiron were both poor.

Third is probably about right, unfortunately. But we’ve probably got more chance of progress in the EL.
