We are lucky that the teams above so far haven't set any fires either or else we would be well adrift by now. 9 points from 17 games says it all.
Whoever had the idea to make Fletcher manager should hang their head in shame .... I've nothing against the lad but in my opinion he isn't management material ... we had players turning on each other and nothing was done to change our game out on the pitch which was obviously not working !
Goals against 37 from 18 games...........we get hold of a reasonable rated defender and what do we do...........we let Blanchard warm the bench for the whole of the match............how can Fletcher come to that conclusion..........there is something very wrong with how he reads a game.
I get the feeling that pasoti members don't like Fletcher as a manager........his ears should be burning at the moment.
Oh how people turn and how slim the lines between hero and zero are. While we are at it lets all shout "Brent out". What pisses a lot of people off is that Reid was unceremoniously dumped. However, at the time of that dumping we were still in Admin and there was nothing certain about remaining as a club. How many of these experienced Managers do you think would have given us a go at that time? None we would probably have voted for and it is not surprising that Argyle went for a cheap option by promoting from within. The question to be asked now is can we actually afford to dump Fletcher and Larrieu as well. Not in results terms but in financial terms. If Fletcher is dispatched then this would probably mean he would have to leave and we would have to pay him off as a player and a Manager. How attractive would Argyle be to a new man. Currently not very with little or no money to play with and a squad that 2 managers have been unable to galvanise into a winning side. Whilst I agree that Fletcher was not and is not the answer to Argyle's woes, I don't see who else we would get would be. There are also calls on PASOTI for Brent to splash some cash which he has told us all along does not exist. A new man at the helm would not suddenly receive a chest of cash would he.
Fletchers record is P9...W2...D2...L5...8PTS...... continue that for the rest of the season = 33PTS......plus Reids 1PT = 34pts for the season..........safety 40-45 pts possibly. Still possible with a change of form and luck to stay in this division...........decision time will be around Christmas, if things stay as they are something will have to happen !!!
It doesn't matter how many points we may or may not get. It matters if we can afford to sack somebody right now and if we can who will come with no budget or prospect of building their own squad. Where will this person come from who will change the sows ear into a silk purse. It would be a disaster if we suffer another relegation it is true but would this not happen for sure with another person in charge?
Have to agree with GAT, big mistake getting rid of Reid and replacing with Fletcher, an added mistake is that Fletcher has been taken off the field where he would have been of more use, yes, yes I know he has played but all his focus could have been on his playing - where he is best. I don't believe he is management material. I'm so pissed with things right now that I sometimes can't even force myself to comment here. Right now I am gutted with what is happening to us on the field!
So is everyone else Mrs lalala but actually Fletcher was banned for today anyway. My argument is that it isn't necessarily the manager and that includes Reid as well. I defy any manager to get much more out of the squad as it was. We have 2 new players one of which was on the bench today. That maybe to do with the match on Tuesday which he can't play in. It was the one players first match today and you cannot expect it to suddenly change and may take a couple of games but from what I gather he had a pretty reasonable game. Get the other one on the pitch for the next league match with Fletcher as well as lets see where that takes us. Fact is though that we cannot splash cash at it and I don't think Brent will so we are stuck with what we have.
I can think of a replacement for Fletcher .... my 18 year old son he has his level 1 coaching badge and his U11's team is top of the table .... he wouldn't want much ... a constant supply of cans of coke and access to an xbox
