Gus Poyet interview summarized : 'waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaa aaaaaaaaaaawaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa'
Refs don't like it when players drop the C-bomb - cheat. So if this is what he was saying then it's no surprise that he was taking an early bath.
Ref did give the wrong decisions there were about 2 stone wall pens that he didn't give and the 2 pens he did give were soft, very soft. Brigton didn't want to win today.
Penalty appeals: 1) 1st half shirt pull on Lambert - definite penalty 2) Fonte outside box - never a pen 3) Hammond tripped by Harper? - probably not 4) Lambert assaulted by Painter - definite penalty 5) Lambert clipped by Calderon - probably not So Mr. Walton awarded two penalties that probably weren't, didn't give two that were nailed on. All in all he had a woeful game. Either way Brighton can't complain, as we should - going on the rules - have definitely had two penalties either way. We played ok first half but Brighton stifled us. 2nd half we were the better team - especially toward the end where we actually took the ****ing piss. All in all a well deserved 3 points that keeps us on track for promotion.
I still haven't seen anything from St Marys. I actually turned my TV on for the first time since the last MotoGP race; watched a bit of MOTD and then promptly fell asleep in front of it, only to wake up to see some of the derby between Exeter and Yeovil. Very nice, but not the visual experience that I was after.
Lambert's clever and goes down but there is enough contact on his foot. In real time it looked a stone-wall penalty, so I can see why the referee gave it.
Just back from Barcelona and replayed FLS. Brighton weren't in game. 1 Totally wrong pen given and 1 dubious one, but 2 obvious pens not given. Even commentator said that Lambert had been assaulted. Agree with pundits..better team won. 3 More points and still top of league. Any non-believers still out there?
Just watched TFLS on I Player , why no mention of the re-take of the second penalty ? The Ref had blown his whistle IMHO their Goalie was taking the piss !!! First goal should have stood .
Just watched Ricky on Player talking about confidence. Said it can take a while to break teams down as they think they know how to play us. He said that the players have the confidence to wait as the opposition can't keep it up and will tire. Our 'secret' is planning and fitness which results in such confidence.
To be honest how many penalties have we conceded and disagreed with the ref. The way Saints played in the second half was worthy of 3 goals......also remember the goalkeeper kept two very good attempts out on top of those that we did get and Lambert missed a sitter in open play. Poyet came prepared to sit back and soak up the pressure and stifle mid field and use the pace of the forward M-S for breakaways. As I said on another post this is the brand of football he wants to introduce to us was it? He came prepared to take a point by hook or by crook. Most of their moves were broken up around the 30yard mark. He got what he deserved and that was nowt. All teams can say they are in with a shout at 1-0 but not with out shots on target!!!
Brighton's form must be worrying to their fans. Mid-table is so tight that if they keep going like this, they'll be dragged into the relegation scrap. Now that'll be funny. And Pompey, who are well and truly in it!
