Yet again England are screwed by the officials. It's clear that last penalty should have gone the other way. O'Keefe is a terrible referee anyway, but he ensured an all SH final with his scrum management.
I’m beginning to hate the scrum. At its best a great spectacle but now it’s a complete mystery mostly and impossible to ref. Most are played to win a penalty. But even if that scrum at the end was poorly reffed you could argue that Farrell giving ten metres through arguing with the ref for a pen even Libbok could kick was the crucial 3 points.
That’s a really good question. Maybe because it’s so contentious, a free kick rather than a penalty would be appropriate.
It’s sport lads. I think IRE are a much better team than NZ but…NZ were far better on the day. What’s still killing me is that we were only about 6 out of 10 that day. Everyone had SA to beat ye by 12–15pts. But sport at this level doesn’t work like that as we all know. I think SB and his crew deserve huge credit. He took a lot of flack but delivered big time. SB has ye playing to your DNA. That was always your style. Nothing to be embarrassed about (as some pundits claimed) it’s bloody effective.
Obviously it’s an infinitely better level than I ever played but I used to wheel scrums or the kid opposite would fall down and it seemed a complete lottery who would get the decision from the posh *****phile refereeing. Didn’t really matter as the fly half would then **** the kick anyway.
Yep, that was crucial, as was Jamie George getting the yips at a 5 metre line out. Fine margins, but crucial.
Haven't met anyone today that thought south Africa deserved to win and engerland didn't throw the game away I think England would have beaten the all blacks in the final
Hopefully he penalises the Bok's scrum on the 50/50 ties. In fact I hope he ref's it fairly and may the the best team win. O'Keeth looked liked he was trying to give SA the penalty though. For what it's worth I'm backing the Kiwi's
Just heard Kenny Logan on the radio, one of the ‘Steering Group’ trying to reestablish Wasps as a rugby club. Now they are working with Sevenoaks council to try and build a multi functional stadium down there which he described as ‘vital’. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t that exactly what they had in Coventry? A big stadium with loads of other uses including big exhibition and concert halls. Hmm. For geographical reasons I was a Wasps supporter, from the Sudbury amateur days. But never a real fanatic, actually went to the Stoop more often (though not very often). But I do know from their little visit to the Midlands that they are bad neighbours - arrogant, domineering and thoughtless. They ****ed up other proper community rugby clubs by picking up and then dumping young players, they overpaid their own players who frequently behaved like ****s when out on the town, and they really ****ed over Coventry City FC , a club very capable of ****ing itself up without help, over the use of the stadium. I don’t think they will be missed in this part of the world, which is one of the heartlands of proper community rugby union. Be careful what you wish for Sevenoaks.
