An interesting choice of words, as you (and your cronies) want it both way's in apportioning blame to a certain manager.....

SL burnt his own fingers Wiz - by making gambled appointments and interfering in the football management side of the club.
SL knew the risks every time money was spent.
If anyone wants to throw criticism at that period of our history then it should be aimed at the man in charge, not the people he appointed.

Honestly your crusade and hero worship for LJ is very admirable, I'm not going to twist this thread into an LJ argument any further, it is about 10 Nige games and does he deserve a contract, I think he does, as do most of us, he is doing well on limited resources, I hope it continues,

I certainly don’t want NP to leave.
I hope - rather than believe - he can take us further.

You will get no argument from me that some of SL decision making has been wrong but thank god we have had this man owning us, we are struggling to achieve Premier status but just look at the progress of our club, he has taken us into the 21st century, stadium and facility wise and consistently bailed us out of our financial problems.

I don't think anyone wants NP to leave, certainly not me. I just won't "hero worship" him for the job he's done so far. For me, it's no more than, if even, what should be expected of a manager of his caliber at this level.

Yep, can't fault, or argue with this, but, I do question is it for the good of BCFC, or the wider Bristol Sport brand? I do feel that in trying to do everything, he has taken his eye off the main prize, BCFC. Much like Richard Branson did with Virgin Airlines.

Please define 'limited resources'? Yes, it's less than previous regimes, but the whole division (less those on PL PP) are spending less, that's the market forces of the day today. We haven't spent a lot on transfer fees, that's clear, but we clearly are on wages, as Matty James is the highest paid player City have ever had on their books. NP knows his budget, and up to him how to spend it. Maybe the wages still dictate how many players that can come in, not the money available to purchase them?

    I did.
    The day SL appointed Junior.

    Read my post again.
Just my opinion of NP's tenure.
It was chaos and a bloated squad, I went on to say we are weak defensively and fragile.
'Steadying the ship' is hardly 'hero worship'

What isn’t in doubt NP has had to oversee the removal of the players on high wages from the previous era, and replace them with less expensive ones on lower wages, picking up freebies and L2, L1 players whilst competing with P/P clubs and he’s achieved it whilst still keeping us in the championship and at present mid table, to add salt to the wound, now we have funds from the sell of AS & AS , he’s not allowed to use any of it.

I too was underwhelmed by LJs appointment. It was a gamble on an inexperienced manager starting his management career and at the time I thought it was too much of a risk - the cheap option - although it didn’t end up being cheap!!.
However, once he was appointed I supported him - as I do all our managers.

I’m not sure he was appointed because he was the cheap option, I think it’s more that SL liked the Johnsons, father & son, saw Lee as a project, a young manager and someone he knew and felt he could trust. Add to that LJ’s skill at talking a good show, plus he knew SL and knew what buttons to push to appeal to him. It was inevitable he was going to manage us at some point, due to his links to the club and the affection SL had for him. However he came too early in his managerial career imo

Back to Nige.. I’m worried that he’s really good at managing and organising a club of how a club should be set up…but lacks the cutting edge on the pitch to win games consistently.. We have 45mins that on occasions look really good, to a point we outplay most teams and then with one mistake or a goal scored against us and we totally lose composure and direction..
it is concerning imo, because it happens too often imo.

Juniors dead cat bounce effect since taking over at Fleetwood appears to be in serious doubt
0-3 down at home to Wycombe at half time
