Where you at again mate, I am off up to Amble for a couple of weeks, do you know what the fishing is like there? If it’s good I will take my proper gear if not I’ll just take couple of small rods.

I am in Ryhope, fishing on a boat out of Roker, I fished Amble a long time ago on a boat, cant remember how many cod I caught, was sick of my life filleting them all when I got back.

Its supposed to be good fishing over rough ground, from the rock edges, Cod havnt really showed up yet

I have very distant relatives up there, as a kid I had a holiday there about 50 years ago, a trawler had pulled in and the fisheries people must have come in to check their catch, they dumped loads of undersized fish over the side, I was in the water filling carrier bags for people for their "Cats" I should have charged them

Aye I’ve been to a few harbours and saw underneath the trawlers on the sea bed covered in fish some big ones, would they be over quota? Mad world mate.

This must have been 1960s, not sure about quotas back then. But there were fish everywhere, I think as the only kid in Amble on holiday with his swimming trunks on, I was a popular lad that day

Off out on the boat on Saturday, there have been a few Cod caught from the beaches recently so hopefully some about on Saturday, I have bought 5 packs of Frozen squid for bait, hoping there are still some mackerel around and some of this to put on the squid, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113234754624?var=413529504095

Good luck on your trip mate, I went to Gerry’s to get some and he told me don’t waste your money mate, so I never bought any, I was really looking forward to trying it as well.
