Good Morning. It's Monday 11th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Could Dallas be retiring Could it be the end of a dynasty for Stuart Dallas? The Leeds utility player has been out of action since the end of April 2022, when trying to nobble Jack Grealish, and coming of worse. The Northern Ireland International suffered a femoral fracture, which was expected to him him sidelined for six months. Nearly 18 months later, and a return to action is still in its infancy stage, after multiple setbacks. Time is against the 32yo, and even if he can overcome his broken thigh bone, will he ever be the same player? Dr Rajpal Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, spoke with 'MOT Leeds News' regarding the veterans chances of a return to action:- “Dallas suffered a ‘femoral’ fracture which is the thigh bone and the largest weight-bearing bone in the body. “I believe he’s suffered multiple setbacks during his return as well." “The injury sounded quite serious when it happened and is quite rare in football so an extended timeline wasn’t surprising but now going on two years, it’s difficult to rule anyone out of returning but that’s a long time to be away from the game – you’re losing fitness, confidence, and rhythm as well.“ please log in to view this image Club or Country No sooner has the football season started, then we're interrupted by the first of many International breaks. Domestic football is littered with constant interruptions, whether they be qualifying matches for a tournament, friendlies or the tournament itself. Some view International Breaks as a burden, others see it as part of their patriotic duty to follow their Country through thin and thin, whether it be a World Cup final or a meaningless friendly. It's difficult enough to try and cram fifty plus matches into a domestic Championship season let along risking injuring a key player whilst representing their Country. A case in point was a few years ago when Kieran Tierney entered the Gunners dressing room carrying a Tesco bag for his toiletries! So surprised were the awaiting press, that it made back-page headlines. Although refreshing to see, this is an isolated case. Lynx shower gel has long been replaced by the likes of Louis Vuitton or Gucci and Ford Capri's by Ferrari's. Obviously there is a lot more money in football than there used to be! In the mid 80's your typical top footballer was earning £500 per week; you then compare that to, let's say Diego Llorente who, last December managed to negotiate a staggering £500,000. The differential is staggering. We see fans turn up at their idols hotels, or ready to greet them as they step off the team bus; only for the players to be playing with their phones or wearing noise cancelling headphones; perhaps an indication that they are too busy to talk with ordinary folk like us. It would be unfair to tarnish every player with the same brush, but on the whole, are modern day footballers out of touch with their fans, and in time, will this affect the bond the fans have with their club? please log in to view this image
Must admit that thought had crossed my mind about Dallas and whether he'd ever play again. terrible end to career if that's what it proves to be. International breaks, I done mind one way or other. I'll always watch Ireland games regardless how poor we are.Re the overpaid players, there is little connect remaining with the fans. During Bielsa era and before, I loved queuing up after games to get selfies with players. Now, most of them wouldn't piss on a fan if they were on fire and I feel zero connection to any of them
Good morning everyone Shocking a lot of players attitude to fans, almost as though they are a cut above, that makes my pi** boil, the overpaid . Thankfully not all are like this, and their is still plenty out their. And it still seems a long time till Sunday, bloody international breaks. Poor Stuart Dallas i really feel for him, as one of the few that gave their all for the club, and always 100% on the pitch.
Morning all I must not be the only one who thinks that Dallas won't play for us again. It's been ages since he's played for us. The club Vs country argument is over done. I've seen this argument being played out for 20 years now. Regarding the players attitude. You give a young lad from a working class environment a load of money on a weekly basis he gonna buy Gucci and flash cars. You see it in rap music. It's human nature.
Morning all I think we'd all probably given up on Dallas before this season started, for his own mental health and well being, the door to a possible return must be kept open until he decides to close it
If Dallas is goosed then we should have had an insurance payout and Dallas retired on medical grounds. We end up paying a couple of years salary for nothing. Love Dallas but we aren’t a charity. nothing wrong with Lynx and sure I saw Wakey using Hi Karate and Brut back in the day along with a big bar of fairy green soap
Morning everyone after the wakefield game on Saturday the players came to the fans. even though the players were shattered in the heat they went round the pitch signing stuff for the kids and having photos etc. Best thing i have done in a long time going to northern counties east league games. All the fans mingle and there is no abusive chanting at each other. You can gain entry plus have a few beers for less than a leeds utd ticket and have change. The players i am told go into the club after and mingle with the fans. Game defore this one a wakefield player bought some fans a beer. Honestly this has given me a new lease of life. I have yet to go to an away match but i will. Ticket prices are capped at this level and the football is worth watching.
Are modern day footballers out of touch with the fans? They’re media trained to say the right thing but what I’ve heard is that they don’t have much respect for them - think they’re clueless about the game - don’t understand what they’re watching - and are fickle. Clearly that’s a sweeping statement and I’m not saying it’s true of all footballers about all fans but I think it’s a fairly widespread view. They’re likely more interested in young fans/kids as they can identify with the dreams.. and what an autograph might mean to them. Bunch of old scrotes like us who slag them off for every mistake they make? Think they’re just happy to take our money… and fck off to the highest bidder. As we have witnessed recently.
They did do the leeds utd one when the oppo goalie was taking a goal kick. Most people just come to watch the game.
Agree Wakey. I have my ticket for this weekends FA Cup preliminary game. Its a local derby too against Worthing, so should be a good turn out.
