no thanks. hes in regression. all players pass and new ones arise. get the club position secured back in cl and sell
You're right, all players pass and new ones do arise. The thing with Salah is, which player anywhere is looking like his replacement? Last season he had 30 goals and 15 assists. Who do we have or who do we get to replace those numbers? I don't believe that player has emerged yet which is why I think we keep Salah until we are sure we can replace him. We never replaced Wijnaldum, we don't want to make the same mistake. Not forgetting that Salah has a say in it too.
It's always extremely hard to replace a player like-for-like, that's now the approach we should take if and when Salah leaves. The approach should be; take Salah out the squad, what have we got left and how do we improve the team? The only two positions this changes is keeper and CB
we’ll know in January when he’s at AFCON. Reality is that he’ll likely be exhausted if Egypt go deep into the completion and his form might dip like last time. by the time he returns, he’ll have 17months left on his contract and will be 5m short of his 32nd birthday. If we can achieve a strong offer for him then, we should take it. We have 4 months to figure out who we will spend some cash on in the meantime.
Salah being a left footed, right sided player makes it harder. We have always coped when we've lost players and we always will. Salah though is a rarity. I can see Doak in there in the future but not as early as next year. The only proviso is that we don't lose him on a free.
A left footer on the right was unheard of ten years ago, things can change. Reality is we probably will want something similar but my point was that teams aren't built like that.
you've replaced windypops twice over now. macallister and now gravenberch. it helps when the club actually looks. we've replaced Gerrard and certainly a far better version than henderson has arrived in Szoboszlai we were sat saying the same stuff with suarez and along comes salah. salah will go and others will rise.
i will be horrified if we haven't already started narrowing down the possible replacements as i'm of the opinion salah goes in either Jan or next summer
We already have the replacements This money will be spent on defence and not all of it at that imho I reckon any drop from CL to EL money will be taken to balance that loss of income up
so you think we fake bidded on caicedo and don't have 50 odd mil spare before we ever see a penny of the blood money for salah?
i think we will look for a left footed forward though that may be one who the scouts think has development potential. Obviously the big upcoming transfer priority will be the defence though it may be a bit better with once the new MF is fully bedded in .
my view is this. the money suggests this. 111mil bid. minus 16 for endo and minus 36 for gravenberch at least suggests there is 59 mil to go forward to January. yes there are certain add ons to be paid on players but those are in future years. assume 50mil budget next summer. I'm areadly.not at 109mil before salah money which should still be north of 100mil. imo there's no way we won't have the budget to buy those defenders people are now demanding and a salah replacement.
Well yes we've replaced Wijnaldum now but it took 2 years to do, one of which was a very poor season because we'd failed to replace him. I'm saying not to do the same with Salah who also has a specific set of attributes that will be hard to replace. As I said where will the 30 goals and 15 assists come from?
I'd be watching to see what Fati can do with Brighton. See if he can stay fit and recover his ability. But I suppose it comes down to, how much does Klopp want to spend on a forward and does he want a ready made player or some to work on
different play, different players. as I said before when you look at our best seasons the goals are more shared. last season I would actually say where was the back up to salah rather than how do we replace him. the others under performed. I would contend I fully expect 10/10 out of Szoboszlai. I would expect 20 from nunez minimum given the europa and I'd want 15 from jota and diaz with assists there also.
It seems futile to search for Salah 2.0 as he might not be outthere. The team will have to evolve. There was much doom and gloom when Keegan left. He was replaced by Dalglish.
Spread out amongst others? Kane scored 30 goals last year and spurs did nothing. If someone else comes in and scores 10-15. Then szobo/Mac gets the penalties so that’s 5 more of Salahs 30. Szobo also looks like will get a few more goals from outside the box so his 5 more goals increase the midfield. Maybe Max gets a couple of free kicks that we never seem to score from.
least seasons league goals 75 in total and not one player hit 20 with only 2 hitting double figures. Obviously losing Salahs goals would be a big blow but I’d put good money on Nunez Jota gakpo and diaz all getting double figures for goals this year if stay injury free (rememver diaz and Jota were injured more of last year and gakpo only arrived in jan). we got 6 or 8 depending where you put carvahlo from our whole midfield. Wouldn’t put it past szobo matching that on his own. Salah 19 Firmino 11 Nunez 9 Jota 7 Gakpo 7 Diaz 4 OG 4 Vvd 3 jones 3 Carvahlo 2 Elliott 1 ox 1 matip 1 Bajcetic 1
Gakpo is scoring 1 in 3 in the league since he signed so perfectly reasonable to see him in double figures each season
Nah not everything has to be cut and dried I think we bid on him and had we got him other things would have happened possibly the sale of Salah ? who knows I trust the people at our club not much point in me guessing - it was a bit of tongue in cheek Tbf
