Looking to see Carvalho and Ramsay to really progress this season.

Ramsay could be the solution to our RB backup problem, just needs to get good season in him.

Think Phillips and Van den Berg needs to be their last loan. Both need to move on to progress.

the thing about that loan List is really and truly there's not a single Chelsea or City like 30 to 50mil kid in it.

Davies is a crucial loan yes, to develop hg gk
Ramsay is/was to get him fit and look at the player we bought.

carvalho was to see if we can get any value back out of him

morton imo is with a view to selling off eventually but it won't be for huge money.

the rest are just to try make a career.

city and Chelsea seem to have a lot better means to get their players exposure.

that said, we have bought doak, bajcetic and a few others to be those players and hold them close.

Horrible to say but City prob have set the standard for youth team atm and up to others to catch up. Think something like 70% of the recent england under 21s squad are either city youth players or players on loan from city.

They producing some great talent even if they are then being sold. Makes 100% profit on them plus getting big sell on %

Not sure if ours needs an overhaul or not. Don’t seem to be producing players, not just for us but for selling to champ clubs.

when you build a vanity project stadium that half the league clubs would love then that's not any sort of standard for clubs. it's an outlier.

people cannot "catch up" to that.

it's not about facilities, it's about player (kids) selection.

we have this attitude to go pick up a type of player, half them are never going to be a decent player never mind a prem player.

our kids are not physical, they are usually passers and will pass all day long and short but no real pace, no real power.

Yes but how many of those they've produced are actually playing for them.

City, Foden and occasional Rico Lewis
Chelsea, Gallagher, Colwill, James, Broja & Chalobah (the last two will barely play this season)

Chelsea are a talent hoover, they don't care if the youth make the grade, its all about future sale.

That said, you are right. Our loans never seem to shine or never go to the right clubs to capture the attention

because 99% of loans are "well we can do not more this this lad, now what"

we are catching round for places to put them rather than having a strong relationship with a club where 3 elected kids could go.

let me put it this way, Brighton seem better st it than us. that's the real.measure.

anyone good enough we hold.

Quansah should be in the Championship right now proving he is a top talent.

Chambers is England u20. no loan. wtf.

Not sure what a stadium has to do with picking and coaching kids but ok.

Academy isn’t just there to prodice players for city first team. No club is ever going to produce 16 players each year to go into the squad.

Yes ideal world but if you can produce 10 players, sell 9 of them for £10m with 40% sell on clauses that’s 90m you can then go and buy Gvardiol.

Palmer 45m
Lavia £20m
Bazuna £10m
Edozie £5m
Larios £5m
charles £10m

All sold in last 2 years (5 to saints to be fair) Plus have loaned out players like Harwood-Bellis and Doyle with sell on fees

That the initial fee or including the sell-on clause they just benefited from?

Harwood-Bellis could be a great buy for Southampton imo
