If those figures are anything like accurate, it shows that it's a rather futile exercise from Khan if it's only going to reduce so few emissions for such an expense and upheaval. <laugh>

Bless you Toby. I guess the RAC and other expert groups that have laughed at those figures, and others that converted even those percentages to actual numbers, and pointed out that they tend to be from a deprived demographic are also gammon in your one eyed world.

Still at least you didn't embarrass yourself by trying to defend the obvious great hole in your argument that those alleged low numbers make the whole thing futile.

That's the danger of simply grabbing a tweet that you think helps your argument, when you don't actually understand the topic. <laugh>

He's floundering because he's arguing from soundbites he thinks support his chosen ideology rather than any form of understanding of the issues.

Fairly standard for the extreme left sadly.

Do you have any idea how many people have work in London that don't actually live there, people like window cleaners, plumbers, scaffolders and machine service/repair people?
People who can't just stick their working tools in a briefcase and get a train in.

The approach in Bradford was to have a very generous scrappage scheme, get the taxi drivers on board, and make the charge only apply to trade vehicles.

What they found was that by far the majority of commercial vehicles were passing through as a short cut, and not actually serving people in Bradford anyway.

They also engaged in full dialogue with as many people as possible, much as they did in Manchester who looked for other ways of achieving the same ends.

Other areas found that they could make better improvements in ways that didn't involve a charging scheme at all.

Funny how the pro-Khan lot don't like to mention the alternatives, or the fact that Khan has spent millions on failed schemes prior to this, so probably wasn't the best person to have making such big decisions.

Imagine if he'd been a white christian, or a tory, the extreme left gammon on here would be incandescent. <laugh>

EDIT. oh, and he's still trying to ignore the fact that if it doesn't affect many people, it's not going to achieve the claimed goals anyway, which should make anyone suspicious of those figures.

The Labour Party has suspended its entire Leicester East branch amid an internal investigation.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) is currently investigating the troubled constituency party over concerns about its operation.

The precise reason for the suspension has not been specified.

The constituency has faced further turbulence following the harassment conviction of sitting MP Claudia Webbe.

There has been speculation that her predecessor Keith Vaz could be eyeing a comeback, though he has denied planning to stand again.

Mr Vaz stepped down following 32 years as an MP for the constituency after he was found to have expressed a willingness to purchase cocaine for others during an encounter with prostitutes.

No one commutes in by car. There’s nowhere to park for a start, but there is an excellent public transport system.
