I was reading yesterday that Bowen is refusing to extend contract because he wants to come to us. Home grown, and plays on the right, can see why he would be targeted. I imagine he would only come if Salah left, and would probably take a big chunk of our Salah money because Wham wouldn't want to sell him. Personally, I think this is highly unlikely to happen this window, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if discussions are being made now ahead of the January window. Can't see either player moving in the last day. And anything can happen before January.
Or means we don't have to rely on a flaky half fit Thiago to play. If only we could convince the Saudis they need a 32yr Spanish midfielder who is always injured.
The market currently is crazy!! How much would he be worth when West Ham know that we’d have over £100m from sales. don’t get me wrong, I like him as a player but he’s not in Salah’s league.
Bowen as a squad player at a reasonable price? Yeah, sure. Why not? Bowen at the figure West Ham will want? No Bowen to replace Salah? Absolutely not. Bowen at West Ham's price AND to replace Salah? Get ****ed! I'd rather use Elliott and Doak.
Just a thought, maybe we've bought Gravenberch to play RCM because Zobo is going to be playing RW once Salah ****s off...
And Doak PS... want saying it was a good idea or what we should do, just that it's a possibility that wouldn't surprise me
have always thought he’d be absolutely ideal to rotate Salah and ultimately take over - but your reasons above make that impossible. And as a REPLACEMENT for Salah? Hell no
me either. Annoyingly, it would make mito’s net spend predictions more than right so it must not happen!!!
The problem is I can’t think of any player in world football who has Salah’s number for assists and goals in the position Salah plays on the right. If leaves tomorrow or next year we still have an issue that, Doak, Elliott et al are not really capable of filling
In terms of left footed wide players, Saka is only one can think that comes close in terms of actual numbers and that’s only over the last year or two. Left footers are still much rarer so to find one to play on that side and be at the level is tough. Now weather could play a right footer there. Obviously lose the ability to cut in a bit more but plenty make it work, Nunez goals came from that right hand side v Newcastle
