This. He was really sharp. TBH not sure why people were so negative on him coming here. I've always rated him as a footballer.
That isn’t quite true. He was poor for 70 against Norwich also. We were better without him. I called it at half time he would be off soon.
I don’t not rate Fraser, I just would like to have kept Tella as well. Edozie and SAA have fantastic feet but there are times they seem like men against boys. Fraser was absolutely fantastic today though. Didn’t realise how rapid he is. Brilliant signing.
Yeah hasn’t Alcaraz not really been on it in all three league games played? Are people still rosey eyed because he was pretty much the one bright spark from the second half of last season? Is he a fit for this kind of league is a reasonable question
This league will either be the making of him, or the breaking of him tbh. He needs to learn when to release the ball, when to hold it etc. Reminds me of when Grealish dropped into the champ. Loads of technical ability but needs to learn the other parts of the game. He was outmuscled today and let the physicality get to his head. But if he can learn the physical side he will be a quality player
Didn’t help he got himself booked early. Did those watching at home feel we didn’t get the rub of decisions? Felt like we got booked for everything. Still, he soon worked out their striker was a flopper.
Just got back. Relieved to win that one, QPR were good apart from in front of goal, which also cost them against Ipswich last week. I suggest we get Wood in ASAP as Jack could be out for a while. Oh, nice howler by Begovic as well to give Edozie his first goal. Cracking finish by Adam. Going to be a big player for us this season. Fraser was excellent, as I've already said. Put a really good ball in within minutes of coming on and was making really good runs. Once him and Charly/Downes/Charles are on the same page he will get in behind a lot. Great game for Baz - great save on the first half and some commanding catches as well. Kudos for Martin for changing it so quickly after HT - good to see him being proactive and it worked. We regained control and got the crucial 3rd goal of the game.
Good to get the win. Mixed feelings about the game, we dominated possession and went ahead but after that we were horrific for the remainder of the first half and started the second poorly. Martins changes were excellent though and turned it around. I think QPR set up well against us initially and it took a change of strategy to get around them. Positives + Good for Edozie to get on the scoresheet. + Martin getting his subs bang on again, so refreshing after Selles who actively sabotaged the team with his. + Charles and Downes look like very good business in midfield. + Fraser made a massive difference when he came on. + Adam Armstrong looks excellent when he is played a bit further back, he isn’t suited to being the solo man at the top though. - Alcaraz had a bit of a mare, giving him the benefit of the doubt I’m not sure he is suited to what he is being asked to do and if played to his strengths is a much better player. - I am not really seeing it yet with Manning, looks shaky defensively and appears to have poor pass selection going forward, odd as I assume he was brought in because this was a particular strength. - Stephens injury looked bad. I think the difficult bit however is that although we won, in the back of my mind I am thinking ‘was that good enough for promotion?’ We will have a better idea after Leicester, but my feeling at the moment is that we have lost a lot of quality going forward since Norwich.
I don’t even think we need another player there. All we need is that striker. I won’t ask for a left back who can defend.
Haven't read the thread yet but....... WONKY SAINT HAS BROKEN HER DUCK!!!!! She's finally seen the mighty saints win at home. Only taken 23 games
In all honesty we have a straight choice between Adarma and Charly (if we can find a striker) and tight now Arnstrong is more effective. Just like SAA - who I wanted to start - really wasn’t quite ready.
