Hmm - Not sure I'd like that personally. I've need a Lambertesque CF. Side note, SW is absolutely full of Melts.
Aberdeen have a European tie next Thursday - 2-2 after the first away leg, so we`d certainly want to keep him. Window shuts the next day.
So Adams not at St Mary’s then. I know I’ve probably been a miserable bastard in some comments, but we have done some good work this window, principally in Central Midfield and in making the most of outgoings. Goalkeeping is what it is, defence is so-so but I feel like it will be no matter what with our tactics. Tella is a shame but not crucial. If Adams is off though then we are in an absolutely critical position and must secure a player of equal capability before the window shuts, no gambles or moneyball experiments. I genuinely believe this will cost us promotion if we don’t sort it out.
I don’t know what you expected. As soon as it was clear we were going to get relegated it was obvious that we would lose all or most of our best players. The fact that it has stretched out over the summer doesn’t change that inevitable fact. The bonus is that we have received decent money for them. We should all expect the rest of the PL level players to leave next week and we will need to rebuild - rebuilding a team that was clearly not good enough last season. This relegation has been far less stressful than it could have been and we are now playing a good brand of football. My advice is that we all chill out and enjoy the fact that we are playing well and winning. It may not last!
We have taken a ling time to sell but right at the last minute we have lost our only out and out striker. And his replacement went to Leeds. So… we have to sign now. And it has to work out.
Sports republic seem to be trying to claw back all the money they wasted last season. We have sold £153 million pounds worth of players, while only buying £12.5 million and getting a lot of loans in. This doesn’t scream of a club trying to get promotion. Could be a balancing of the books before a potential sale?
