Ref tried his best to cheat Arsenal out of our fully deserved three points, but Arteta’s revolution is in full swing and not even a bent ref can stop him
I think he was wrong to send your player off - can't make my mind up over the penalty decisions, but fair result on reflection. I think someone needs to have a word with the ref though, about applying the new rules from the off, not two thirds way through the game.
Our pen was a stonewall, but I think we got lucky with the Palace shout when Eze went down. Ref was a ****ing penis though. Booking Tomiyasu after he'd only had the ball for a few seconds. And then the second yellow when Ayew dived when he felt Tomiyasu's hand on his back, soft as ****. Also Ayew shouldn't have been on the pitch, as he should have had a second yellow for a pull back on Saka when he was past him. Overall rating for the ref. ****cunt
I think what annoys me is now, with these new rules, you can get penalised for protesting the decision or for showing frustration. It's natural to show these emotions in a high-pressure environment when there's so much on the line - especially when the referee has made a series of abominable calls. Yet again, it further protects the referees and doesn't address the actual issues at hand. Howard Webb has done nothing to improve the accountability processs for officials and the decisions they make.
I thought the new rules had worked quite well until this evening. It soon became obvious that Arsenal do a lot of time wasting, and the refs failure to stamp on it sooner made it worse. Maybe if your eleven bunch of cheats just got on with the game, these problems wouldn't exist.
You couldn't have put this any better. Players are passionate people who want to win at all cost, it's only natural they will question decisions and as long as it doesn't turn into abuse the ref should be able to stand his ground (maybe give a brief explanation) and move on. We have one of the biggest moaners in the game with Bruno but he never gets abusive or physical and as the captain should be allowed to at least put his case to the ref for his team (same as any other captain). One thing i will end on though is a question i heard from a non league ref on the radio "have you ever seen a player change a refs mind?"
The card for Tomyasu at the throw in was rediculouse, the player who passed the ball to him should have been carded instead but the ****e decision by the ref led to a sending off later.
They both play for the same team, so they both should have been carded. 1-0 to the Arsenal play these tactics all the time, they are all complicit, because they knew what Palace were capable of so they had to slow it down, hence it being decided in the end by a penalty, while Palace were denied one the other end. Yes, 1-0 to the Arsenal gets the results, but only if they tie that in with cheating, send them all off I say when they do it.
