Loads... Souttar, Kristiansen, Soumare, Castagne and Daka are all being left out of either the whole matchday squad or not coming off the bench ... plus Maresca keeps saying he wants to bring in at least four more new faces before the window shuts - so writing looks on the wall for them ...

.... definitely an emphasis on youth coming through too ... academy lads, Marcal-Madivadua, McAteer, Ben Nelson and Jacob Stolarcyk all having had minutes on the pitch ...

...loads of disruption / change, yet quietly getting the results whilst the performances are steadily improving game by game ...

I see Sky have moved our home game with you to a Friday night... <yikes>

Until Pep has done 20 years at one club and built multiple teams it's not possible to compare <doh>

SAF was the best of his generation and possibly all time but Pep stands alone in his generation now,
All time.?

paisley

End of discussion really

I think he is good but I definitely subscribe to this not building a team viewpoint

he didn’t even earn the right to be chequebook manager in my opinion like Jose did (who do me is up there in this generation easily)

he inherited a team with two of the greatest players of all time in Xavi and Iniesta at a club which at the time snapped their fingers and players came running

Pep then went to Treble Winning - all conquering Bayern and arguably took them backwards

from there onto City and whilst he hasn’t spent 200mil on a player he has bought loads of 50-60 mil players

one of the commentary teams mentioned it yesterday from reverse perspective saying how wonderful Pep is because he seems to make players good and they lose KDB and have Foden to bring in.

Pep has the ability to make mistakes and just discard players - whereas other teams have to live and utilise their mistakes - Pep can just replace at ease then bin off the player.

Foden is touted as one of the best English prospects since Gazza at City - has Pep helped him - yep but I imagine it’s like at grass roots.

surrounded by the quality Pep is afforded from his owners how can you not improve - that’s why we have ETCs

Pep for me is almost the greatest fantasy football manager ever as his team is pretty much that. He has been to 3 clubs with basically limitless funding. Can see him going to PSG tbh then retiring. Is he a clever man - yes - is he a very very good manager - yes
Is he the greatest - not to me - no matter what he achieves at City.

you say it’s not possible to compare but I think it is - take Fergie as the comparison. At this point in his career he had built Aberdeen up and broke up the dominance of the two Glasgow Clubs

then moved South and built a utd squad which had broken the dominance of Liverpool - both mammoth tasks - has Pep done that at this point - no ?
He continued a winning legacy at Barca, he arguably took Bayern backwards, and City weren’t exactly losers when he arrived - he just took them to the next level.

to be clear it doesn’t bother me - other clubs just have to work harder and find ways to beat City - that’s now the game but I just think the debate over Pep and any other top managers is a simple one

I think SAF miles better
Brian Clough light years ahead
I think there is an argument for Jose for me - you know I admire him

ancellotti in modern day - this generation is better than Pep imho

obviously we will never solve it because it’s impossible. I doubt Pep will lose any sleep over my opinion or you will for that matter lol <cheers>
Oh **** bro they won't like that.

Not one fujing bit<laugh>

Way too much troof in that post for anyone to respond in kind.

Youve basically destroyed pep and his fanboys there.

Played.

Only in your head ... that semi-final second leg performance against Real Madrid was, IMHO, the most complete by an English club in the last 20 years .. but nowt to do with the manager or his tactics ... no siree.... simply the chequebook ... <laugh>

Pep destroyed Liverpool and stopped them in their tracks at every turn. They’re in pieces.

Yeh but your a pub team fan and no ****all about elite footy mate.

Soz

Suspect you've watched your 'chosen' team in the pub / on the box much more than I have mine ... still got a healthy live games to armchair fan ratio... even at my age ... and "you're" welcome ...

PS if elite equates to winning the Premier League title, my pub team has as many as yours, plus we did it first... and didn't need world record signing fees for a keeper and centre back to acheive it ... ****ing chequebook success eh? ... deplorable innit <laugh>

Now get back to watching what appear to be your only areas of footballing expertise ... the women's game / on the box <cheers>
