Anyone that has an inkling of how finance and amortisation works knows that Newcastle have only "spent" a portion of that, offset by some outgoings.

Once Hall is through the door, by my reckoning, we'll be done bar loans. Can't see us doing much in January unless there's A) a key injury or B) an opportunity too good to miss (ie that will make the club gamble on the recovery of the FFP sum - Eales has said repeatedly that they will always do what they can to make funds available for such instances).

Mind you, a good few more big name friendlies, a "festive" Sela Cup @SJP around Xmas with Saudi Pro League sides and a good training ground / kit deal should boost the coffers sufficiently to have another splurge.

On what planet are Man Utd likely to fall foul of FFP? I don't care how much they've spent, their revenues are much bigger than clubs (like Newcastle, Villa and almost all others) and I don't see a situation where they are recovering from losses in earlier years. I could be missing something ofc but it seems more likely they just don't want to spend if that line is being peddled.

Their owners don’t put any money in so they can only lose £5m a year. They’ve been spending big on ****e for years, so in the end, it all adds up.
