Maybe my memories are blurred but all the guests were on his show to talk about themselves, not as a PR or marketing exercise for the next book, film, tv series etc. Different times now with every magazine, website, social media platform constantly giving us crap on all the little jumped up.... who think they are famous. His guests were real personalities. Emu anyone??!!

RIP Michael, almost certainly the best face to face interviewer ever ! Used to love his show, the interviews with Peter Cook and Billy Connelly were hilarious.

Sad news, particularly given the last twenty-six years of his life were spent grieving for his son. Reading the article on the BBC, seems he was also very generous and gave a lot of money away...a cynic would say that is easy to do when you have so much, but others have as much and don't, so good on him.
