Out of where? What defines success? What defined top quality? case in point: alisson. bought form italy not england. I think success is a given Clearly top quality when arriving VVd Bought in the prem so "proven" I think success is a given Would you call him top quality when arriving? some (not me) would say he was not as there were doubts Mane See above. Man utd rejected him the summer before etc etc etc LFC have rarely bought marque names. Quality is about knowing and judging what that player can bring not what their record says. the person who can see quality is going to be the most successful rather than the person who can buy proven success. As we stand there's not that much awful about our sqaud in theory but in practice they've failed the first test as the slightest big of pressure and they fell back into their shell. In practice we don't look fit or well drilled and thats IMO far more worrying than which two players might we add to the team. As it stands we are not going to be in the top 4 come may, not because of signings but because of fitness and tactical ability and bottle. I'm SURE the talent is in there. absolutely sure of it. but its not going to show up without being fit and aggressive.
I suppose when people talk about "top quality" what they mean is I've heard off him, he must be boss. The state of the team at the minute is similar to the previous season, we are playing a system that doesn't fit the personnel. We are shoe Horning players into positions that they can't play, gakpo at left mid is ridiculous, Henderson playing centre back a few seasons ago. Either we sign the players that can fit the system, or we change the system. Going off previous debacles, I expect us to do neither, just carry on regardless and hope
Agreed. £52m for those two at this stage was not to be turned down. Fab only had another season left in him anyway - he was the best DM in the world 3-4 years ago, but that's long gone. But we should have had a replacement lined up this summer anyway, even if he was just staying another season. We seem to wait until the last moment now to replace players - just in time recruitment strategy. Doesn't work. At least Gakpo for Bobby was timed better.
It’s what you get when your criteria for appointing football commentators now is female, headlamps, pins and a winning smile. They know nothing
According to my Man U supporting next-door-neighbour, that was the other way around? He thinks so anyway, as he raged about it for five years.
I get the impression that Gakpo is an intelligent footballer, like Bobby, so he's his natural replacement. Diaz and Nunez are both naturally gifted, but I'm not convinced of the game intelligence of either just yet. I don't see us hitting the heights of the serendipitous line-up of MBS again anytime soon, but along with Jota they should be a decent enough strike force. Depends on how long we can keep Mo for as well.
The Saudi Factor. They own Newcastle and 16% of Chelsea. Newcastle staying just inside with FFP having St Maximan offloaded to Saudi to free up space. Chelsea bat sh1t crazy transfer policy with insane spending, Cante offloaded to Saudi. The main opponents LFC Hendo, Bobby, Fabinho removed to Saudi at short notice putting us under pressure. City lose Maher’s, one of their top performers. Am I deluded or is there a pattern here? I have probably missed a few as well

Chelsea buying Olise for £35m rip FFP Knifed many times by Man City until Chelsea slashed your throat.
This is clearly the way forward. Why wait till they've had a year at B&H, just wait till Brighton make a bid and then outbid them.
He would actually be a solid signing for us - £25m release clause? But his injuries are concern. I want Tchouameni.
