apparently we have bid 60mil to annoy cheslea more.

Southampton laughing at unexpected massive bonus.

someone needs sacking over what is now a potential 10million loss. just thrown away.

FFP discussions will be interesting over the next 12m - for me, it died long ago and as we are not a ‘sugar daddy club’ we will never be a beneficiary of the rule bending group of clubs unless FSG sell us to one; I suspect that that may be sooner than we all expect

I did read (and haven’t seen it since, just for Diego!) that the main issue with the Lavia deal was the agents fees. Sounds like £50m wasn’t the issue beyond the normal go in low and work up to an agreed fee?

If we end up paying 60m for Lavia and chelsea signed caicedo for 115m then only they’ve only got themselves to blame.

Both throwing their dicks around ended up costing each club 10m more for their own targets.

Saints and Brighton the big winners

Doubt that. Think I posted a video last week that explained that FSG will never relinquish their £3-4bn asset when they can get multi-million-pound loans at low interest using the club as collateral. It's essentially why they try to run us with as little debt as possible. Fair enough, they don't load the debt onto the club like H&G or the Glaziers, but in fairness to the Glaziers, United have never been short of money at all for transfers compared to us.

Yep, what a waste of a week and probably several million.

Still - relieved it's been accepted and we are getting him in (unless Chelsea trump us <laugh>)

Both players 50% more than they're 'worth'. What's happening now, as Warnock is saying on Sky, is that Chelsea are like under the early Abramovich era again - they have that much money they are buying players simply to stop opponents having them. And, no matter what is 'agreed' between the clubs this morning, it's odds on that Lavia and his agent will opt for an 8-year, £200k-a-week package at Chelsea than a 5-year £100k-a-week package at Liverpool.

We're not getting Lavia, but we're acting as the auctioneer's shill again, this time for Soton. Unless JH wants to get personally involved again and use all the resources of FSG, we have to accept that Todd Boehly is taking this ultra-personally and we're too small to fight him. He's quite prepared to face and fight any financial or other penalties further down the line, and he's seen City's strategies and knows the authorities can be bullied, cajoled, and bribed - - we might be best walking away this summer and accepting Top Four has already gone with this squad.

Ultimately not JH's or FSG's fault, though we can all rage at their parsimonious attitude and not strengthening the 2020 squad, using Covid as an excuse (nobody else seemed to). But they bought the club on the back of FFP - an FFP that's never been enforced. There's no sugar-daddy out there now that wants to buy us at our book price - as soon as United went up for sale they went there instead. We continue down this road and we're Mike Ashley with go-faster stripes. That's the way it is, folks. :emoticon-0108-speec

The problem we have now is clubs know we have at least £110 million to spend so prices will go up by £5-10 million from what they would have accepted last week.
