Trent was taking too long to take the throw in. I don't think it was deliberate time wasting though, just couldn't find anyone in space to throw for.
Usually a warning first

He's awful taking throw ins and often takes too long. It's certainly not time wasting.
LB...? We played 433!
Wasn't a handball though. If that's the other way around we'd be calling the ref a **** for giving it.
And we still caught out several times. Chelsea exploited that side all game.
There are some serious structural and personnel issues:
- the pressing is chaotic at the moment. It’s not coordinated, and often leaves big gaps as our players go to press.
- Robbo is struggling down that left side. Not all his fault but I don’t think he’s up to it anymore
- our build up play is too rushed. We have centre backs and Trent who like to play long balls quickly, and we have two technical midfielders are progressive but risky. We need a LCB who can build up play and keep the ball on the deck, and DM who can recycle possession
- Trent is only inverted when we have the ball and are attacking. If we’re in defensive transition, then he stays ar right back. As we only had 35%, he was rarely on the ball or in the inverted position to hurt the opposition.
It’s a concern because we’ve seen these issues constantly for a while now. I really don’t think the set up is good enough, even with the right personnel. Klopps coaching has been stale and without direction for some time now

I mean awful as in he always takes his time and seems to find it difficult to make that choice quickly. I suppose that really wasn't an issue until now.Always find out fascinating how we've been watching the same players and games but get a completely different viewpoint... I think Trent is one of the better throw-in takers in the league.
Tbf you don't really focus on the positives so you should expect a little criticism.@Jimmy Squarefoot stop ringing in with this.
nobody should be free of criticism even klopp but you.cannot even dare say one word about what you see on here without people assuming you want the man sacked.
Talk Sport doesn't really attract the most reasonable of people tbf mate.High spirits

We really have no idea on the coaching side of it being "stale".And we still caught out several times. Chelsea exploited that side all game.

We hired that throw in coach and we were then the best at retaining possession from throws ins, this was a couple of seasons ago though, no idea how we've done since then. Seems a small part of the game that didn't really need that much attention but I suppose it all matters. Its no worse than any other full back imo.
I just think every club has their sighter now and have to proceed on the basis that when a ref tells you to take it you lob it as far down the line as you can irrespective of how slow your team has been in getting in position.
We all have to remember this will fade quickly and the refs are throwing cards about to make a show right now.
We are trying to retain possession off the throw rather than getting field position. If you throw the ball down the line into a contested header you actually hope the opponent heads it out of play higher up the park. If you are relying on your team mates to gets into a position to be able to retain possession it can be an issue.
Just throw it miles down the line.
We'll improve, wasn't the worst start to a season.not stale no.
In fact they have clearly changed formations etc.
The issue for me thats most worrying is who underbaked we look and after 6 weeks of coaching we are still talking about them dropping off and not trusting whatever said system is.
same for fitness.

Refs always go nuts with directives in gw1he's gone. we stopped using him.
It's just about being pragmatic. Theres little danger to throw ins so its about recycling possession even in advanced positions so for me its all about risk and reward. We lob the ball into the middle of the park in a very pressable position a lot of the time (throw ins are lobs so the ball has to be laid off or controlled and are not like a ball along the ground) IMO in a defensive position we should mix this up and have "someone" get wide fast on a thrown in and have that lob down the line that can be contested or headed out.
I think at home refs will simply not book players for this as the crowds will get all over ther backs. In 2 weeks we won't be talking about this.
honestly trent was timewasting and was obviously time wasting in game 1 of the season and as such get the card thats there for refs to give.
