I'm going on 2 things - Sky are saying it, and they were the first news outlet to break the story on Friday that Caicedo was 'having second thoughts', and that was an hour after Klopp's morose Friday morning press conference when he stated that although the clubs had an agreement, the player situation was not clear. His conference today was the same deflated, passive-aggressive hostility with that 'what the Chelsea manager wants, the Chelsea manager gets'. Sky say it's imminent - it may be today or tomorrow. But whenever it is, Klopp's body language today was defeatism in abundance.

At a guess I would say they have roughly £85m wiggly room before ffp bites them hard. If they can't shift the unwanted ones.

£85m was their last Caicedo bid that was rejected a while back and since then they haven't been back officially.
Lavia at £55m and Adams at £20m, £75m together, looks like their backup plan.

Pulling out of the Adams deal, when it was virtually done, would suggest they need that £20m to even get close to matching our bid. Also came after the agent hinted they still wanted Chelsea.
The rest would have to made up of sales, £30mish, which is why their delaying as they'll need to gain that from at least one of the unwanted players.

Think they missed the boat on selling Zieych to the Saudi's. The Saudi spending seems to have died down now they've kicked off. But this does seem to be their best option for revenue.
Lukaku is stuck imo, none of the Italian clubs want to actual pay for him and there seems to be little interest elsewhere.
Hudson-Odoi, not worth £30m, not worth £10m these days. Made a massive mistake not selling him to Bayern a while back.

Can't see them being able to get both Lavia and Caicedo. Its either Lavia plus one other or Caicedo solo.

Comes a point where the player will have to make a decision the long it goes on.

well, the issue is I don't really but this as

a) they literally just paid 23mil for sanchez then let kepa go off on loan. they did not need to do either if they were tight on ffp and really wanted caicedo at 85mil.

b) they bought nkunku and jackson for over 100mil

c) they went out and replaced fofana with that lad who scored last week. thats 40mil again from nowhere.

d) they bought Ugochukwu for 25mil as well.

e) they are courting olise from palace extremely hard.

so they dumped Adam on the alter after agreeing a 20mil fee right after they heard the needed to pay 100 for caicedo.

I think they have the money or I should say don't care about ffp.

as players get injury or are not shiny any more another player is bought.

they're team was granted the run of the park by out lot with no closing down and no space filling and they actually got worse with each sub on. it was astounding.

imo they know exactly what they are at here, all the stories on twitter are coming directly from them.

caicedo is on their paid list with his agent so he will absolutely sign for nobody else until they gilt him too. they have all the time in the world with thst deal amd are playing the game with lavia who they didn't really want

imo they would spend 200mil more this window and not blink.

At the end of the day, we just dont give a **** about FFP and/or have found a way to juke the stats, which will probably bite us in the ass in the not so distance future.
If I were Liverpool I'd just concentrate on doing things the way you been doing things, and let us Chelsea fans worry about our batshit owner.
You guys have done ok in recent history, so dont fret.

Think Palhinha was quality for Fulham last year but he’s 28 I believe so for the cost Fulham would want seems a very short term option unless they think he has the legs to keep going into early 30s

I'm confident we will never see anyone harshly punished for FFP violations. A slap on the wrist is the worst we will see.

There's definitely two sets of Liverpool fans though. The a) our owners should pump every penny they own into the club and they won't be decent owners until they're bankrupt and living on the streets and the b) let's just be self sustaining and well run.

Looks like chelsea gone to 115m plus sell on.

Would make sense if we’ve now started talking to Palhinha and Lavia then.

Im option C. Self sufficient to certain extent but owners should be putting their own money in given the nature of the business and the increase in value that they’ve already made on their investment having not spent any of that money.

Put it sinilar to windfall tax in oil conpanies. Yes they’ve done stuff to increase their profit but they haven’t increased the club from 300m to 3bn on their own. Just happened to get us dirt cheap in first instance.

I don’t think Lavia will go there. If we want him I think he’ll come to us.

Why would you go to chelsea knowing you have 220m of midfielders ahead of you plus 5 other players of a similar age, farmed out on loan.

honestly don’t think chelsea even want Lavia, just retaliation for caicedo bid to get us to withdraw

What do we know about Ibrahim Sangaré?
Supposedly linked with him again, scouts been following him and his "agent's brother" supposedly leaked we're in for him.

Generalist midfielder but good defensively, although not really a #6.

.

Exactly, and if they had to jump through hoops to make caicedo transfer not set off obvious alarm bells with FFL, Lavia might be a bridge too far. I guess we'll see though.

I think so too but the whole saga / summer highlights the issues our club faces off the pitch. Since we lost edwards, we have lost all strategy and cohesion.

Klopp clearly now has more power but it felt like we had learnt lessons by promoting spearman and bringing Gordon back. It doesn’t help that we have a short term DOF who is also Klopp’s mate.

They pay more. It is that simple. And an 8-year contract.
