Vicarage Road Stadium
Saturday 12th August 2023
Kick Off : 1500 BST

If we thought that this would be the season when everything fell into place after the result against QPR, then we were brought back to earth when with an unchanged side, apart from the keeper, we went out of the league cup on penalties.
Our visitors from the West Country had a good start to their season back in the Championship, with a home win against Huddersfield.
Plymouth have sold out their 2,000 seats, so we can expect the team to get plenty of support. Against QPR the Watford fans were noisy in the first half as the goals went in, but were quiet after the interval. Perhaps we can put that down to shock.
So Watford sit on top of the table, but Plymouth are only behind on goal difference. If either side win, they could top the table, but a draw could allow others to take over.

Team News

None available currently, but Jeremy Ngakia did appear to pick up a knock on Tuesday and was substituted.

Referee:
Geoff Eltringham

Shaun Hudson and Carl Fitch-Jackson are due to be the assistant referees, with Scott Tallis on fourth official duties.

Getting confused. I don't remember many referees from particular matches (there are a few exceptions!) but I tend to remember if I think a referee is no bloody good! Now Eltringham fits into that camp. I can't say a particular match where he messed up, but I associate his name with incompetence. Problem is, I can only find that he reffed us three times, all of which we won with clean sheets. In 2020-21. Very confused.

All long as he keeps up his record
